Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is no longer a PlayStation 5 exclusive after Square Enix announced the highly anticipated PC port. This direct sequel and continuation of the unknown journey began in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and PC players can continue the story on their high-end gaming rigs. The developers redefined "remake" by transforming the original story from the ground up and adding a few more elements for a more captivating experience.

We break down the changes and improvements made to the PC platform.

5 things we can expect in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth PC

1) Enhanced lighting, textures, and visuals

While the game looks already stunning even on a regular PlayStation 5, the graphical superiority of a high-end gaming PC can make it look even greater. Like other major Final Fantasy titles, the visuals of Rebirth will likely look sharper than they are on console, making it a compelling choice for first-time players.

Playing Rebirth on a powerful gaming PC with max settings will make a world of difference. Square Enix had to compromise and make separate game modes, like fidelity and performance, for the PlayStation 5, which was later squashed with the PlayStation 5 Pro to get the best of both worlds. However, on PC, players can make adjustments to their liking.

2) Multiple options for controllers

PlayStation 5 owners were spoiled with a brand-new take on the traditional DualSense controllers. Unlike most standard controllers, this one has exclusive features like haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, built-in microphone and speakers, and more cool features like PC compatibility.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth originally launched on the PlayStation 5 last year, and the developers took advantage of the DualSense features. It would be apt to enable these unique features on the PC port as an alternative to the traditional gaming keyboard and mouse options.

3) Multiple graphics settings

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is graphically demanding and one of the first few games to ship with two discs on the PlayStation 5. Not everyone has a PC built like a tank, and the developers wanted everyone to have the same balanced experience by releasing the PC port with pre-built graphic settings varying from low to medium and high.

4) NVIDIA DLSS functionality

Combat in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake games is a perfect blend of traditional turn-based combat and real-time action. Players can take a moment to pause and select which attacks to use against a specific opponent or spam a flurry of attacks with preset buttons.

With NVIDIA DLSS functionality, the game's performance will be much smoother, and the image quality can be upscaled to higher resolutions. Frames may not mean much to the average player; however, some can notice a difference between 30 and 60, which can make or break their Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth experience.

5) Customizable NPC count

This could save players a lot of hassle, especially for a game that showcases various hubs and biomes full of life. The developers realized the graphical demands of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth could be problematic for some players, and their solution to combat this is to give the player the freedom to remove certain elements, such as background NPCs.

NPCs can be CPU-intensive, and not all gaming PCs are built with the same parts. Some have a much more modest spec list that could run a game just fine without using extra horsepower for better visuals and graphics. Being given the option to remove unnecessary background characters to compensate for other demanding features is an excellent trade.
