Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), Valve’s shooter iteration, has been creating a buzz in the community for quite some time. As a successor to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, CS2 has received several upgrades in gameplay mechanics, graphics, anti-cheat software updates, and more.
With all the enhanced updates offered, everybody expected CS2 to be better than its predecessor, as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was a huge success.
Ever since the game rolled out, players have been concerned about various bugs and niggles that have a significant impact on the playing experience. Players have also reached out to Valve's social media handles to share their grievances. It takes a lot of components working in tandem for an online game like Counter-Strike 2 to run smoothly and provide an optimal experience.
However, various errors can impact this experience, making CS2 a deal-breaker. A bunch of tweaks and fixes can go a long way to improve the way Counter-Strike 2 can be played. In this article, we are going to talk about the five aspects that CS2 needs to improve in 2025.

Five Counter-Strike 2 fixes
1) Optimization of frames
Counter-Strike 2 is not as optimized as its predecessor, when it comes to performance. There are still subtle frame drops in certain situations that can affect your gameplay. Keep in mind that they can occur even on a good gaming setup.
These frame drops can make the gameplay feel a bit sluggish, which most players may not like. It needs to be addressed and rectified with a patch update.
2) Skill-based Matchmaking
The Matchmaking system has always been a weak spot for CS2 and CS: GO for a long time. Pairing against higher-ranked players or smurfs has always hinders a player’s experience, causing them to either rage-quit or surrender an ongoing match.
It's important to be paired with players who have similar skills to refine the experience of the game and provide smoother progression through the ranks. Hence, the Matchmaking system needs plenty of improvements with a patch update.
3) Sound
Issues may not occur often, but the audio system in Counter-Strike 2 needs to improve. The directional sound can be inaccurate at times, which can determine the outcome of the particular round. A slight inaccuracy, and it's suddenly game over. The audio issue mostly occurs in maps with vertical levels that can make you feel like the players are moving beside you. Valve has released numerous updates to fix the audio, but it still needs a permanent fix.
4) Anti-Cheat
Hackers are still at large in Counter-Strike 2 even after new anti-cheat softwares were implemented. VAC Live is still an effective anti-cheat software compared to its predecessor, but hackers have still managed to bypass it, causing the game to be unplayable and affecting its integrity.
Players have already been providing their valuable feedback to the devs on social media platforms, and they are still anticipating action from Valve to improve their anti-cheat and prohibit hackers from ruining the game.
5) Proper Matchmaking Rating (MMR)
Winning and moving up the ranks are major sources of satisfaction for players in Counter-Strike 2, as is the case with most competitive games. Even if you have a high win rate, it is becoming more and more difficult to feel that satisfaction with the MMR system as it is right now.
The main cause of your less-than-ideal experience is the involvement of cheaters and smurfs. Players may be discouraged from participating in the competitive game mode, especially the Premier Mode, if the MMR following a hard-fought victory is lower than they had anticipated.
The counter-strike title has a legacy that needs to be protected. Fans and players all over the world are expecting Valve to prioritize these concerns and come up with a fix that enables players to enjoy a smooth and balanced experience.
