Astro Bot has been PlayStation's most famous platformer in recent times. These games are usually made to show the consoles' capabilities. However, players have enjoyed them so much that we're getting a standalone Astro Bot game in September exclusively for the PS5. The game is meant to be a bigger and better version of Astro's Playroom, which came free with the PS5 and acted as a tech demo for the system.

During the PlayStation State of Play, we witnessed the announcement of many upcoming PlayStation exclusives and a trailer for the Astro bot. We could see that the game will be an expanded version of the tech demo, sold as a standalone game for the PlayStation 5.

While we wait for the game to come out in September of this year, we expect to see a couple of things. Here are five things we would like to see in Astro Bot for the PlayStation 5.

Note: This list is subjective, reflects the writer's opinions, and is not in any particular order.

5 things we would like to see in Astro Bot for PlayStation 5

1) A story mode

The previous games in the Astro universe have never had a story mode. They've instead always featured random stages you could play to experience the capabilities of your PlayStation hardware. In the upcoming entry, we would like to see a full story for the game's characters, which can describe their origin or just tell the players about the world of our favorite bots.

2) Open-world environments

The game's universe has always revolved around linear levels where you move from checkpoint to checkpoint. These levels always tell you where to go with a few collectibles hidden here and there, away from the player's eyes. While linear levels have always been fun in these games, we would like to see an open-world level in the upcoming Astro Bot game even if it is small in size and scope.

3) Playing as other characters

In these games, we always get to play as a bot, which doesn't have a lot of personality except for being cute. These titles are littered with characters from various PlayStation franchises such as Uncharted, The Last of Us, and even God of War in the form of bots. In the upcoming Astro Bot game, would like to play a level as these other characters to make the gameplay feel more fun.

4) More boss battles

In the previous game, we spent our entire time platforming and killing enemies in one hit which was fun for the most part. However, there was a heavy lack of boss battles, which was presented to us at the very end of the game. In the upcoming Astro Bot game, we would like to see a few more boss battles thrown between levels instead of including them at the very end of the journey.

5) Harder platforming

Astro games have always been an easy platformer that aims at all ages. These don't have any difficulty settings but are easy to play no matter your age. However, the lack of difficulty can make them almost too easy to play, which might become boring after a while. In the upcoming Astro Bot game, we would like to see harder platforming to make the levels a bit more challenging.
