Resident Evil 9 is highly anticipated by fans as they can't wait to find out how the franchise will move forward. The series has been going strong for over 25 years, and we only have eight mainline games with a few remakes mixed in. Resident Evil Village, released in 2021, gave fans an experience focused on high-octane action and the feeling of survival horror all in one big package.
It's been three years since that title came out, and we're excited to see which direction Capcom goes. The existence of Resident Evil 9 has not been confirmed yet by Capcom, but it has announced a new Resident Evil game is being worked on.
While we don't have a confirmation of what the game will be like, we can always have certain expectations of what we want to see in it. Some people in the gaming community even expected the game to be revealed at the recent State of Play, which never came true. Here are five things we'd like to see in Resident Evil 9.

5 things we would like to see in Resident Evil 9
1) Return of zombies
Resident Evil is a horror franchise that started its run by having zombies as the main enemies. However, in recent entries like Resident Evil 7 and Village, werewolves and molded enemies have replaced zombies. The series is headed toward more unnatural occurring instead, which is why we would like to see zombies return to the franchise in Resident Evil 9.
2) Return of third-person camera
Since Resident Evil 7 in 2017, the franchise has had a first-person camera for the mainline entries including Resident Evil Village. While the Winter's Expansion added a third-person mode to Village, it still wasn't the same as what the series had in the previous entries. In Resident Evil 9, we would like to see the return of the third-person camera perspective.
3) Playing as Leon
Leon is a fan-favorite protagonist for many in the Resident Evil franchise because of his personality and looks. While he has been seen recently through the Resident Evil 2 and 4 remakes, he has been absent from the franchise since Resident Evil 6, which was 10 years ago. In Resident Evil 9, we would like to see Leon return as a playable character.
4) Focus on horror
While Resident Evil Village had a mixture of action and survival horror, the action elements could easily overshadow the horror in the game. This disappointed many fans as Resident Evil 7 was horror-focused and fans were expecting future games to follow in its footsteps. In Resident Evil 9, we would like to see a 100% focus on survival horror aspects instead of action.
5) The BOW mystery
At the end of Resident Evil Village, Chris Redfield finds out that BSAA, the organization he is working for has been using BOWs, when the company's original focus is to fight against the use of BOWs. This gave rise to many questions for the gaming community, and it has been three years since the game came out. In Resident Evil 9, we would like to see a deeper investigation of this mystery.
