Fans are desperately waiting for the next PlayStation Showcase as they were left rather disappointed with State of Play, with the only well-received reveal being the new Astro Bot game. The pressure is even higher with the recent Xbox Showcase dominating the gaming industry with many upcoming games like Doom The Dark Ages and Life is Strange Double Exposure.

Players are hyped for these games but also want to know what Sony is cooking up behind the scenes. There is currently no date officially scheduled for the Showcase but it is heavily rumored that we might get to see one in the coming September.

Here are five things fans would like to see at the next event.

These reveals at the PlayStation Showcase will blow everyone's mind

1) Spider-Man 2 story DLC

Since the release of Spider-Man 2 in October of 2023, the fans have been waiting for a DLC announcement but there has been nothing but crickets from Insomniac's side. Every now and then, they release new updates to fix bugs and are even adding a few new suits to the game. While these small updates are rolled out, the fans are waiting for the release of major story-related DLC content.

Since we didn't see Insomniac reveal anything at the State of Play, there is a big chance it might present the fans with a new DLC at the PlayStation Showcase. This DLC could be a story content related to Venom, Carnage, or even the addition of a side story for Miles Morales. The possibilities are endless, and the Showcase will be the perfect opportunity to reveal something big like this.

2) Ghost of Tsushima 2

Ever since the first Ghost of Tsushima was released for the PS4 back in 2020, fans have been craving a sequel for years. However, Sucker Punch Productions has decided to stay silent on the subject with no news about the sequel in the last few years. Fans have been speculating for a while about when the studio might reveal the game as they didn't appear at State of Play either.

The next best destination to reveal something about the next Ghost of Tsushima is the PlayStation Showcase as it is the biggest PlayStation event where big games get revealed. With the release of the PC port of Ghost of Tsushima, new players got to experience the game and might want more sword fighting, and that need for more Ghost of Tsushima can only be quenched with a sequel.

3) Wolverine

The last time we saw anything from Insomniac's Wolverine was back at the 2021 PlayStation Showcase, where it revealed a 44-second-long teaser. It has been three years since that reveal and fans have heard nothing, except for the game being pushed back due to hackers stealing Insomniac's data in December 2023.

Wolverine's reveal at the 2021 PlayStation Showcase broke the internet, and it's odd to see Insomniac not sharing any details. The next showcase might be the best opportunity for the studio to reveal something like a story trailer for Wolverine. However, if that doesn't happen, we can always expect Spider-Man 2 to arrive with a new story DLC.

4) PlayStation 5 Pro

Fans have been speculating the existence of a PS5 Pro for quite some time now. If a PlayStation Showcase happens, we should expect to see a reveal of the new hardware with higher specs than the base model of the PS5. The reveal of this new hardware might also come with a few presentations talking about the new features and capabilities of the console.

The PS5 has entered the later stages of its life cycle as claimed by Sony, and it might be time for the company to do the mid-revision of their console. State of Play wasn't a big enough event for the company to reveal its next big hardware, which is why it might wait for Showcase to reveal the PS5 Pro.

5) GTA VI

Since GTA V's release in 2013, the game has been ported multiple times in the last 10 years. Fans have been begging for a new game in the franchise for years and in December of 2023, they finally got the long-awaited trailer of GTA VI. The trailer has garnered over 195 million views and the hype has been only growing ever since.

Since then, we have heard that Rockstar Games's main focus is to polish GTA VI for its release in 2025. In regards to the game, there has been no gameplay reveal or a new trailer to increase the hype but with the next PlayStation Showcase, we might finally get to see a new trailer for GTA VI. While the trailer's appearance at the next PlayStation Showcase is a huge speculation, it is still possible.
