Dead Space 3 disappointed fans by shifting its focus from survival horror to a more action-oriented approach. This rubbed the long-time fans in a wrong way as the reason Dead Space became popular was how it handled the horror aspect by isolating you in a spaceship with aliens, that are looking to feed on your corpse. It wasn't long before the gaming community deemed Dead Space 3 as the most disappointing entry in the franchise.
It has been 11 years since the game came out and with the release of the Dead Space remake last year, fans are hoping for a Dead Space 3 remake soon. If done right, this will help in rewriting the history of the franchise, by fixing the issue that plagued the final installment in the series for a decade.
While there are no updates regarding a remake of Dead Space 3 in the making, we still have some suggestions regarding what needs to change in the remake. If the game ever comes out, here are five changes we would like to see in a Dead Space 3 remake.

Five changes we want to see from a Dead Space 3 remake
1) Strictly next-gen versions
The original game came out in 2013 for the Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 when the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were already coming out that year. This release on the older hardware should have originally come out for the 8th generation of consoles. If a remake happens, we would like to see the game be a strictly next-gen version to showcase the capabilities of the new hardware.
2) Return to survival horror roots
The reason the original game failed to capture the attention of the long-time fans of the franchise was because of its shift to action-oriented gameplay. This meant that the slow tense moments and creepy areas of the game were pushed aside for action-themed gameplay to step in. In order to win back the fanbase, the developer must stick to its survival horror roots by replacing all the action from the original.
3) No microtransactions
The original game was a single-player entry with some multiplayer components. However, the microtransactions made their way into the game by allowing players to purchase in-game resources. This move was frowned upon by many long-time fans and is even the reason why the players abandoned the game.
While the importance of microtransactions is understandable, certain games work better without them, and the Dead Space remake can be considered one of them.
4) Upgraded graphics
The Dead Space remake that came out in 2023 set the standard for what a remake should be like. The game upgraded the graphics, loading speeds, and sound design for a more advanced and immersive experience for the players. If a Dead Space 3 remake happens, the developer must continue on the same path and deliver the same level of treatment or more that the Dead Space remake received.
5) Revamp the co-op experience
The co-op mode in Dead Space 3 took away from the single-player campaign which was a gripe many players held with the game. If EA wants to implement a co-op mode into the game, then it should be done in a way where the solo experience stays unharmed. If a Dead Space 3 remake comes out, we would like to see co-op missions that enhance the main story while retaining horror elements.
