God of War Ragnarok was a phenomenal game that got nominated for the Game of the Year award in 2022. This much-awaited sequel concluded the Norse saga and opened doors for more avenues for Kratos to explore. While the game is twice the size of its predecessor, it never fails to amaze gamers as they play through the heart-touching story. Even though God of War Ragnarok is not a perfect game, it still does a lot that makes it a strong entry in the franchise.
We get to explore all nine realms, a new weapon in our arsenal, different types of Spartan rage, and playable Atreus sections. With Kratos being referred to as the savior of the nine realms and his journey seemingly coming to an end in the Valhalla DLC, what should the next God of War be about? Here are five things that we would like to see in the sequel to God of War Ragnarok.
We want to see these 5 things in the sequel to God of War Ragnarok
1) A story worth telling

At the end of the Valhalla DLC, we saw Kratos talking to his past self, accepting his mistakes, and realizing that he should become the God of War of the Norse lands by replacing Tyr. While this ending sounds fitting to end the God of War franchise, fans would like to see more of Kratos in a different story. If Santa Monica Studio decides to continue its story in a new pantheon, then it needs to be worth telling.
2) A new pantheon
Since the inception of the God of War franchise in 2005, we have witnessed Kratos kill Gods in the Greek and Norse pantheon. With the Norse arc finally over with Ragnarok, we would like to see Kratos find new adventures in a Pantheon he has never explored before. For instance, fans would love to see him explore and interact with the Gods from the Egyptian and Japanese pantheons.
3) A new weapon
God of War Ragnarok gives players the Draupnir spear to master halfway through the game, which is a great addition to the arsenal alongside the Blades of Chaos and Leviathan Axe. However, players would like to see Kratos wield new weapons on his next adventure. We believe Kratos would be able to easily handle a katana, thanks to his experience with the Blade of Olympus.
4) Expand on Norse mythology
Even though God of War Ragnarok was made to wrap up the Norse saga, the ending doesn't feel like a proper goodbye to all the characters. There is still a lot that can be done, such as following Atreus on his journey to find all the marbles, building on the relationship between Kratos and Freya, or setting off on an adventure to help everyone alongside Mimir.
5) Finding the mystery behind the mask
God of War Ragnarok pushes Atreus to find all the pieces of the mask for Odin only for him to break it at the end. We never get any answers about what it was that Odin was looking for by using Atreus as his pawn. In the next game, Kratos and Mimir can set out on an adventure with the real Tyr tagging along to find the mysteries behind the mask.
