Amid the plethora of content in the XDefiant Season 2 update, the introduction of new weapons might have slipped under the radar. The free section of the upcoming Battle Pass will feature three new weapons:
- PP-19 SMG
- L86 LSW
- SPAS-12 SHOTGUN
Additionally, players can customize attachments and fine-tune their preferred handling mechanics for these weapons.
2) Netcode, matchmaking, and anti-cheat improvements
XDefiant has faced significant criticism for poor matchmaking and hit registration issues on its servers. Despite the game having an input-based matchmaking system, players struggle to find matches when crossplay is disabled. Additionally, reports of rampant hacking on PC have surfaced.
New content will all go to waste if Ubisoft does not address these core gameplay issues. Thankfully, the developer is reportedly working on netcode, matchmaking, and anti-cheat improvements, as mentioned in their complete year 1 roadmap, and has promised players a better experience in XDefiant Season 2.
3) Map voting system for ranked
XDefiant’s matchmaking has been needing some changes for a while now. Similar to any FPS title, players find themselves performing better on some maps than others and would often like to improve their skills selectively. This was previously impossible as you were automatically queued into a map chosen by the game, which was frustrating at times.
With new maps coming into the game, and Ubisoft finally adding a map voting system for ranked matches, the XDefiant Season 2 experience is bound to be better than ever. The system has not been revealed by the developers yet, but you can expect to hear more about it as the update nears.
4) Player progression and quality of life improvements
Apart from all the featured content coming with XDefiant Season 2, several quality-of-life improvements will boost the overall experience of the game. These changes are equally important as they are essentially what gamers encounter throughout. The changes are:
- Mantle improvements
- Player collision improvements
- Footstep audio improvements
- Leaderboard improvements
- Ranked loadouts
Additionally, Ubisoft will also improve on their player progression track with new rewards, increased XP, new and improved Battle Pass, event challenges, and so on.
5) New device and limited-time game modes
Ubisoft recently shared the complete year 1 roadmap for XDefiant. In the roadmap, they have listed the addition of a new device and limited-time game modes for the upcoming Season 2.
A new device, which will be available in the free section of the new Battle Pass, might mean game-changing content. This, along with the introduction of the new faction will modify how the game is currently played and players will have to learn new interactions to adapt. Additionally, new limited-time game modes are also on the cards.
We have no information yet as to when to expect the new device and limited-time game modes but with the update on the horizon, Ubisoft will likely keep us in the loop. Stay tuned to their official social media handles for future updates.
