The Matrix: Path of Neo was released for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC on November 7, 2005. The game wasn't a masterpiece but it did a great job of making the players feel like they are in the iconic movie. The Matrix franchise is one of the most appreciated and loved films of all time. These films have changed the way audiences perceive action sequences by innovating with every entry.
In 2021, we saw the release of Matrix Resurrections, the fourth installment in the franchise that failed to capture the same level of energy as its predecessors. Gamers even got to experience a Matrix-themed demo for the PlayStation 5 which showed the capabilities of Unreal Engine 5. However, that demo has now been delisted and players don't have any new Matrix content to experience.
Since Matrix 5 is officially in development, players have fondly looked back at The Matrix: Path of Neo hoping for a sequel at some point in time. If that ever happens, here are five things that we would like to see in a sequel of The Matrix: Path of Neo.

These are 5 things that we would like to see in a sequel of The Matrix: Path of Neo
1) Enhanced graphics
The PS2 version of The Matrix: Path of Neo was appreciated for its graphics at the time. However, those same graphics have become quite outdated by today's standards. We believe that the sequel should upgrade the graphics for a more realistic-looking experience, similar to the demo that was released for the PlayStation 5. This will bring in a newer generation of players to try the game.
2) Expanded storyline
The Matrix: Path of Neo was a game that wasn't based on any of the Matrix films, but it loosely followed the storyline of the first three films in the franchise. This meant that the game was technically its entity featuring characters from the films which made the experience authentic and unique. If a sequel ever gets green-lit, would like to see a story unique to the game, and not a recreation of the films.
3) Player choices
One of the most iconic moments in the Matrix films is the significance of the red and the blue pill. These pills give you the choice of either living the same old life you have been living or understanding the secrets of the Matrix. In the sequel, we would like to see more such choices presented to the player, so they can drive the narrative they want by choosing the reality they want to exist in.
4) More action sequences
In The Matrix: Path of Neo, we see plenty of action sequences that looked amazing at the time, but wouldn't have the same impact on the gamers of today. In the sequel, an emphasis on a more high-octane action sequence is something we would like to see. Using today's particle effects and physics engine will make the sequel's action sequences realistic and the best in the gaming industry.
5) Open-world exploration
Open-world games have become quite common in today's time which is something the sequel of The Matrix: Path of Neo can take advantage of. The first game was linear which was a fun experience, but an open-world game creates room for more opportunities. This can include mini-games across the map, rifts in the Matrix we have to close, and crime cases that we can solve involving fake NPCs.
