The Call of Duty franchise needs no introduction. Publisher Activision has officially announced the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on October 25, 2024, with early access beta coming as early as August 30, 2024.
The game will feature a story mode that is said to be a direct continuation of Black Ops Cold War, with improved multiplayer modes consisting of up to 16 new maps and the new Omnimovement feature. The developers have also been teasing a new co-operative Zombies mode that will be available with launch.
To access the open beta, players need to pre-order the game.
2) Terminator: Survivors
Terminator: Survivors, developed by Nacon Studio Milan, is a post-apocalyptic survival FPS game following the events of the first two films from the Terminator series. You will be tasked with re-establishing a civilization nearly four years after Judgement Day and hide from Skynet's robots as they try to hunt down the remains of mankind.
Featuring both gunplay and stealth elements, the game will certainly test your survival instincts. It will also feature both solo and co-op modes.
According to the official website, the game can be accessed through Steam from October 24, 2024.
3) S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl
The STALKER franchise is another long-running FPS franchise that has set a high standard for itself with its previous iterations. This latest entry, developed by GSC Game World, is essentially a survival horror FPS game.
Set in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, you will get to navigate a post-apocalyptic world filled with artifacts and unknown beings. Action and horror are the two words that best describe the environment you will be tossed into. The game's progression will be in your hands, as it will feature a non-linear story mode. The developers have also promised a multiplayer mode that will be available as a free future update.
According to the official website, the game is scheduled to be released on November 20, 2024, and is already available for pre-order.
4) John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando
Developed by Saber Interactive, John Carpenter's Toxic Commando is a horror FPS inspired by the works of the eponymous filmmaker. The game lets you team up with your friends to fight the Sludge God and his army of the undead. If you are a fan of the Resident Evil series, you will likely enjoy this new FPS horror game.
Although the release date has not been finalized yet, the game's publisher Focus Entertainment has announced on their official website that it will be available by the end of 2024.
5) ALARA Prime
ALARA Prime has adopted a unique approach to tactical FPS. Developed by Fall Damage Studio, which was founded by ex-Battlefield developers, it is a competitive first-person shooter with three teams in a 4v4v4 format. You can approach it as a mini battle royale. The gameplay involves a much more strategic and careful approach than the traditional 5v5 shooters.
A pre-alpha version was playable in July 2022, and Fall Damage Studio has revealed via its official website that the game will be live in Q3 2024.
