The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is all about puzzles. While much of this aspect is felt with its approach to problem-solving, the most obvious ones are its Shrines. These mini-dungeons are dotted all around the kingdom of Hyrule. They allow players to test their newly acquired abilities and combat skills. Furthermore, there are rewards for those who take their time to comb through the Shrines.

However, things are not always as straightforward as they might seem. With many puzzles and challenges to uncover, players may need some help to proceed.

1) Track down optional treasure chests

As players explore the Shrines and proceed with their objectives, they encounter treasure chests. These often see protagonist Link going out of his way to get them. However, they are always worth the effort.

They usually contain valuable materials (like Ruby and Opal) and even weapons (like the Zonaite Sword). Furthermore, spare weapons can be found scattered around the Shrines, which can be picked up if players have enough inventory space for future use.

2) There is no wrong way to solve problems

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom emphasizes player experimentation. This means they can solve puzzles using various methods, all of which are valid. To facilitate this, there are a handful of abilities to help Link in his adventure.

These include Fuse to enhance weapons, Ultrahand to manipulate objects, Recall to rewind an object's path, and Ascend to move through vertical spaces. As such, many ways exist to solve the Shrines with different and often surprising combinations.

3) Recall gets the job done most of the time

Perhaps the most powerful ability in the game is Recall. This can be used in conjunction with other abilities to make puzzle-solving incredibly easy and seamless. As an example, a Shrine area would traditionally see players stack together smaller platforms to create a path to walk across the lava.

However, Link can use Ultrahand to move the platform to the other end and then Recall to move it automatically. This concept is useful for rewinding mistakes as well, making it a key aspect of The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.

4) Try not to heal unless absolutely necessary

Many Shrines in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom have environmental hazards and enemy encounters. As such, it would be common for Link to take damage from these sources.

The game features a heart system for health which can be replenished by eating food and other consumables. However, players might want to hold off on it. That is because most of these Shrines are short, and hazards can be easily avoided if one is careful.

On reaching the end of the Shrine, players are rewarded with a Light of Blessing. This collectible restores all of Link's hearts. As such, it is preferable to avoid wasting valuable recipes in the Shrines unless in a pinch.

5) Beat as many Shrines as possible

There are several Shrines across the kingdom, and it is recommended to tackle all of them eventually. The Light of Blessings obtained as rewards for beating them is key to character progression in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.

They can be turned in at the Goddess Statues located around Hyrule to upgrade Link's max health or stamina. This should expand the player's exploration and combat abilities immensely, so completing as many Shrines as possible is a must.
