The PlayStation 1 is a fifth-generation console that initially hit the stores in 1994. Since its launch, the platform went on to become the home of some of the most important video game titles of all time.
Sony launched a PlayStation Classic that included 20 preloaded games on 3 December 2018, which marked the 24th anniversary of the beloved classic console.

As the name suggests, this is the ninth instalment in the long-standing Final Fantasy series and hit the stores first in the year 2000. Interestingly, this role-playing video game, developed by Square, was the last Final Fantasy game developed for the PS1 console.
The plot revolves around the consequences of a war between nations in a medieval fictional world called Gaia. The game shone new light on the exploration aspect seen in RPGs with its introduction of the Active Time Events, where events unfolded simultaneously in different parts of the map.
Final Fantasy IX was a commercial success during its launch, selling over five million copies. Furthermore, the game is the highest rated game in the Final Fantasy series.

Medal of Honor is the first game that explored World War II with a first-person shooter viewpoint, and successfully, launched the release of a slew of games that target this genre.
Medal of Honor was released initially for PS1 on 1999 with the story created by Steven Spielberg. This game was the first instalment in the series, and till 2018, fourteen titles are released under the Medal of Honor banner.
Along with an engaging campaign that takes place during the final stages of the Last Great War, the game also features an engaging split-screen deathmatch mode, which engaged the players against each other.

Developed by Polyphony Digital, Gran Turismo 2 was the sequel to the original, and it hit the stores in 1999.
The racing simulation game pushed the boundaries of the genre, featuring over 600 cars from 36 manufacturers, along with 27 racing tracks.
The vehicle dynamics were improved over the original while ensuring that the overall feel of the game didn't deviate from the typical Gran Turismo experience.
Gran Turismo 2 received positive response upon its launch and went on to ship over nine million copies as of 2008. Additionally, it went on to become one of the Greatest Hits of the PS1 console.

The present popularity of Tomb Raider games could largely be attributed to Tomb Raider II, which hit the stores for PS1 in 1997.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 is the second game in the popular Pro Skater series, which is built on the same engine as the original but with improved graphics. Taking place in a third-person view, the player controls a skater and must complete a set of objectives to earn cash and progress further in the game.
