Game Awards 2024 was indeed a wild ride with celebrity cameos and crazy new announcements. Additionally, the Game of the Year winner has also divided the fanbase. Surprisingly, that category was not the only victim as a portion of the audience couldn’t help but feel disappointed as their favorite games were snubbed from winning a single award. While the competition was fierce, we do have to accept that there were some titles that at least deserved a single win.

This article shares six such games that were worthy but failed to win a single award in the Game Awards 2024.

Six games that deserved a win in Game Awards 2024

1) Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

Nominated for:

  • Game of the Year
  • Best Game Direction
  • Best Art Direction
  • Best RPG

Despite being a fan favorite and highly anticipated release this year, the critically acclaimed DLC of FromSoftware’s Game Awards 2024 failed to win a single award this year.

While the Game of the Year award had some serious competition, the fans had expected that the Shadow of the Erdtree would at least win in the Art Direction category for featuring the masterful art style of Miyazaki, but unfortunately, the title was toppled by Atlus’s Metaphor: ReFantazio.

2) Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

Nominated for:

  • Best Narrative
  • Best RPG

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth was the latest installment in the popular story-driven Japanese mob world-inspired RPG. Although the game has stellar reviews on Steam and every other platform, both of the categories that Infinite Wealth was nominated for had heavyweight names, and unfortunately the niche following of the franchise wasn’t able to win this title any awards in any of the categories.

3) Silent Hill 2

Nominated for:

  • Best Narrative
  • Best Score and Music
  • Best Audio Design
  • Best Performance
  • Best Action/Adventure Game

This was my favorite nomination, and that is why the disappointment that I felt when Silent Hill 2 failed to win a single award despite being nominated for five categories. This masterfully created remake of the classic Silent Hill 2 won eight awards in the Game Fest awards but wasn’t able to snag a single award in any of the categories in Game Awards 2024.

Nominated for:

  • Innovation in Accessibility
  • Best Ongoing Game

Released in 2023, Diablo 4 is regarded as one of the best entries in the legendary Diablo franchise. However, it wasn’t able to win any awards in the two nominations it had received. The fans were confident that it would get the award in the Best Ongoing Game category, but instead, the title went to the highly acclaimed live service game, Helldiver 2.

5) No Man’s Sky

Nominated for:

  • Best Community Support

No Man’s Sky is a story of perseverance. The game came out way back in 2016, but it fell extremely short. The game failed to stand up to any of the promises it made. However, after almost a decade of constant support, the game is finally able to stand on its own and receive positive reviews across the board. That is why it felt a little disappointing when the game failed to get the award despite having a loyal community who supported the title constantly.

6) Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

Nominated for:

  • Best Audio Design
  • Innovation in Accessibility
  • Best Action Game
  • Best Multiplayer Game

Finally, this list wouldn’t have felt complete without mentioning Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Although the game only came out a few months ago, the extremely loyal fanbase can’t stop gushing over the title. However, their appreciation alone wasn’t enough to win any of the four categories that Black Ops 6 got the privilege of getting nominated in Game Awards 2024.
