7 games similar to Stalker 2 that you can play on PS5

The release of Stalker 2 marks the return of the celebrated Stalker series after a 15-year hiatus. The title is currently only available on PC and the Xbox Series X/S. PlayStation owners may have to wait a while before they can play the game, as there are no confirmed plans to release it on the PS5 yet.

For those eager to experience something similar, there are a number of games available on the PlayStation 5 that either run natively or are playable through backward compatibility with the PS4.

This article lists seven titles comparable to Stalker 2 that PS5 players can enjoy right now.

Note: This list is subjective and solely reflects the opinions of the writer. The Stalker Legends of the Zone Trilogy counts as three games.

For PS5 owners craving an experience similar to Stalker 2, the best option might be to revisit the original trilogy.

Once exclusive to PC, Shadow of Chornobyl, Clear Sky, and Call of Pripyat were all released on the PlayStation Store digitally in March 2024.

Many characters that make an appearance in Stalker 2, like Strelok and Scar, first appeared in these earlier games. Strelok is the main character of Shadow of Chornobyl, while Scar takes center stage in Clear Sky. Players can explore the origins of the Zone, meet the original group of Stalkers, and delve into a world affected by hazardous radiation.

All three games are available as a bundle or as individual titles from the PlayStation Store, with native support for PS4 and backward compatibility on PS5.

Much like Stalker 2, Fallout 4 by Bethesda features a nuclear apocalypse, dangerous levels of radiation, and unique enemy types. Widely regarded as one of the best entries in the Fallout franchise, this title is now available as a native PS5 port.

In Fallout 4, you join different factions, scavenge the wasteland for resources, and improve your crafting abilities to survive the aftermath of nuclear devastation. Don't forget to enjoy the lively tunes of Radio Freedom and Classical Radio while exploring the wasteland.


3) Chernobylite

Set in a world inspired by the real-life Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, Chernobylite is a survival horror RPG where you play as Igor, a former nuclear plant worker. His mission is to uncover the truth behind his fiancée’s mysterious disappearance over 30 years ago.

In this game, you must craft tools while managing a base of operations, all while making critical decisions and forming relationships with companions to safely navigate the hazardous Zone.

The Metro series, much like the Stalker franchise, features survival mechanics, with Metro Exodus introducing elements of radioactive contamination across its map. Set in a post-apocalyptic Moscow, players take on the role of the protagonist as they navigate a desolate, radioactive environment.

Inspired by Dmitry Glukhovsky’s novels, Metro Exodus features a storyline set in the aftermath of nuclear destruction, with trains and metro tunnels playing a significant role in the game’s world.


5) Days Gone

Days Gone offers a survival experience set in Oregon, where you play as Deacon St. John, a former biker searching for his wife Sarah years after a pandemic turns most of humanity into zombies. The game features a dynamic weather system and a day-night cycle that influences the types of enemies you encounter.

Craft weapons and supplies to fight off hostile enemies as you travel the dangerous world, all while searching for Sarah. She is believed to have survived the outbreak, despite earlier events claiming that she perished.

Native to the PS4, this game is playable on the PS5 through backward compatibility.
