Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 will be released on February 4, 2025, on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Unsurprisingly, the gaming community is curious to see what major leaps and improvements the developers have made. To that end, Warhorse Studios has actively engaged with its community by sharing gameplay previews and more exciting details.
While the release window isn't that far off, here are a few things returning players can expect for this highly anticipated sequel.
7 things we can expect in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
1) A bigger open world sandbox

Exploration is the meat of the RPG genre, and Warhorse Studios did what most players expected regarding its open world. While the original game's map was already massive in scale, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is expected to be twice as large, which will be a treat for the gaming community.

After working on this project for seven years, Warhorse Studios took it to the next level by adding another map set beyond the grounds of Bohemia. While details about the other map have been vague, Bohemia never looked better on modern hardware and is full of detail and foliage.
2) New side activities
The game developers knew the player base would quickly grow tired of exploring a massive sandbox with nothing to do, and made the wise decision to bring back other side activities while adding a few new ones. Henry can play board games with locals, work on his alchemy and blacksmithing skills, or hunt down wild animals to prevent starving to death.
3) New ranged weapons
Weapon variety is one area this sequel has in spades, which is good news for returning players. Since melee combat is the de facto option in the Kingdom Come Deliverance franchise, the developers will finally add the highly requested crossbow to the game.
The original game featured the standard bow for ranged attacks, and while they can get the job done, having a crossbow as an option can encourage players to try different playstyles. In Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Henry of Skalitz can use a crossbow to get out of tight situations that would have been impossible to win with a regular bow.
4) Improved combat mechanics
While the combat mechanics in the first game were already great, Warhorse Studios aspired to do better in the sequel. Players can now be ambushed by bandits on the road and have a few options to take them on, one of which leads to a bloody encounter through swords and the other allows Henry to engage in a classic brawl of hand-to-hand combat.

Regardless of how a player left Henry of Skalitz in the first game, all that progress is gone, and the player must learn the ropes again. However, Warhorse Studios is bringing other mechanics, such as the master strike and parrying back, having improved these systems significantly.
Unlike most games with archery, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 takes it to the next level for realism by removing the reticle. Although this might be tedious and annoying for players with poor aim, with enough practice, they will likely appreciate the developers' vision for a realistic gaming experience.
5) Five hours of cinematics
Warhorse Studios wanted this sequel to be better than the first game in every way possible. The developers promised to impress returning players with over five hours of cinematics in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 as they accompany Henry of Skalitz in his noble quest to avenge his parents. Since visuals and graphics are among the features fans are looking forward to the most, Warhorse Studios' developers must get it right.
6) Better cosmetics and customization features
Like every other sequel, players are eager to see what changes the developers have made to the customization features. Since most players appreciate the option to tailor their character's appearance for a personal touch, many have been wondering if the clothing in this sequel will have unique physics for a much more immersive feel.
Skill and other equipment can be customized in-game however a player sees fit. One area where the developers are making changes in the sequel is the combat animations for weapons, which were all somewhat similar in the previous game. Long-arm weapons such as axes and swords now have unique animations to stand apart.
7) An authentic Medieval European experience
Medieval Europe was a different era for mankind, and other adaptations from popular media often depict it as savage and barbaric. Similarly, in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Henry of Skalitz must tread carefully to survive the dangers this world has to offer.
Random encounters with bandits and other outlaws will try to intimidate the players to take their belongings. Violence can be found all over Bohemia, and it is up to the players how they will navigate various biomes with their allies in the game.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 has the opportunity to upstage the original game in every way possible. The developers took the community feedback into account and seem to be trying their hardest to address these issues and deliver a great gaming experience.
