Alan Wake 2, Remedy Entertainment's upcoming survival-horror offering, is just a few days away from its official release. Alongside the pre-load timings, the developer has also disclosed the game's file size, system requirements, and more. When can you pre-load Alan Wake 2 on all platforms?

Pre-loads for Alan Wake 2 are currently live on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Players were able to preload the title since October 24, 2023, at 9:00 pm PT and October 25, 2023, at 12:00 am ET/7:00 am GMT/1:00 pm JST/2:00 pm AEST.

The game's file size on the current-generation consoles is roughly 89 gigabytes, so make sure you have plenty of space on your console's storage drive, i.e., SSD. Given it's a current-gen-only release, you cannot install the game on an external HDD.

Unfortunately, pre-loads are yet to go live on PC. Since the upcoming sequel to Alan Wake is exclusively available via the Epic Games Store, it's very likely that pre-loading won't be an option on PC.

How to pre-load Alan Wake 2 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S?

Here's how you can easily pre-load the upcoming Alan Wake sequel on your console of choice:

For PlayStation 5

  • Before pre-loading, make sure you have the game purchased on your PSN account.
  • Head over to your PlayStation library and hover over to the Purchased tab.
  • Select Alan Wake 2 from the list of games under the Purchased section and press Download.
  • Once the download finishes, you will need to wait for the official release of the game to start playing it.

For Xbox Series X|S

  • After purchasing the game on your Xbox account, head over to your games library on your console.
  • Select Alan Wake 2 from the list of games and queue it for download.
  • After the download finishes, wait till the official release of the game to start playing it.

While Remedy hasn't confirmed the existence of a day-one patch for their upcoming title, it is very likely to get one right before release. You might need to download an additional update after pre-loading the game and before you start playing it.
