What are SHIFT Codes and how to redeem them?

SHIFT is a player loyalty system that offers in-game rewards in the form of redeemable codes. While these usually are Golden Keys, they can also include cosmetic items like skins. That said, the former is in-game consumables that can only be used at the Golden Chest in Borderlands 2's Sanctuary hub area to get high-rarity loot.

To redeem Borderlands 2 SHIFT codes, navigate to the Extras tab in the main menu, then select SHIFT. This opens the SHIFT inbox menu where all redeemed rewards are tracked. Click on the SHIFT Codes tab which opens up a field to enter the code. Type in the code and Submit, following which the items will be added to the player's account.

Alternatively, these codes can be redeemed via the official Gearbox SHIFT website as well. That said, players will need to create a SHIFT account which must then be linked in Borderlands 2 to use the redeemed rewards in the popular 2012 looter shooter.
