Anime, meme, and game references in Genshin Impact Simulanka map

Genshin Impact's developers have often referenced popular memes, anime, and other media in the game, be it through achievement names or dialogue options. This tradition has been continued in version 4.8's Simulanka map.

Simulanka's map has a reference to the highly popular "other side of the sea" scene from Season 3 of Attack on Titan. In the episode, protagonist Eren points towards the ocean and talks about killing all the enemies on the other side of the sea.

The toy figures standing on the edge of the ocean in Simulanka's map are also looking out towards the water, and one of them has its hand stretched out like Eren. The dialogue bubble "The other side of the sea..." pops up above its head, referencing the exact dialogue from Attack on Titan.

One of the toy figures in Simulanka can be found with its arms outstretched with the dialogue bubble "Can the others do it?" This is a reference to a scene with Light Yagami in the anime Death Note. In that particular scene, Light has his arms stretched out and asks the question "Who else could have done it?"

While the dialogue for the toy figure has been tweaked a bit, the pose and implication are essentially the same, referencing the scene from Death Note.

Skyrim reference

Two toy figures in the Constellation Metropole area of Simulanka can be found in a wagon with the speech bubble "Heh, you're finally awake." This is a reference to a cutscene at the beginning of the game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

In the cutscene, the player finds their character waking up in a wagon, with a man sitting on the other side. Shortly after, the man (who is named Ralof) talks to the player and tells them "Hey, you're finally awake."

The toy figure in Simulanka saying the exact same thing while standing on a wagon is a reference to this cutscene in Skyrim.

The Spiderman pointing meme has now become a cult classic in contemporary social media circles. Its origins lie in the 1967 Spiderman animated TV series but has long since transcended its inception and moved on to larger things, to the point of being featured in official live-action Spiderman movies.

The three toy figures in Simulanka can be found standing in the exact same pose, pointing toward each other in a direct reference to the Spiderman meme.

One toy figure can be found sitting alone on a bench near the southern teleport waypoint in the Broken Sea. Players can sit next to the toy, which will trigger a speech bubble "Momma always said, life is like a bowl of woodchips. You never know what flavor you're going to get next." This is a reference to the opening scene of the movie Forrest Gump.

In this scene, Forrest offers chocolate to the lady sitting next to him and says, "My mamma always said, life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get." While some words have been changed, the toy figure talking about the woodchip is a direct reference to the opening scene of Forrest Gump.
