Assassin's Creed Shadows is finally coming out on November 15, 2024. The highly anticipated mainline installment in the series takes it to a place that has been a long-standing request of the community. The game is set in Feudal Japan; while the lore and location will surely be interesting, what's equally or more intriguing are the new weapons we'll get to look at.
The shinobis from Japan are famous for using several weapons and tools, like Shurikens, Katanas, Kanabos, etc. It's exciting to think about which of these tools will be part of the new game. Let's take a look at all the Assassin's Creed Shadows weapons and tools that have been revealed so far.

Katana

The Katana is the most important weapon in a Samurai's arsenal. We've already seen the male protagonist, Yasuke, wield the Japanese sword, and it has a lot of potential for causing carnage in close-quarter combat. We've also seen Yasuke take out multiple enemies at once with his Katana, which opens the door for AoE attacks with this weapon.
Grappling Hook
The AC Shadows trailer also showed the female protagonist, Naoe, using a Grappling Hook. This new tool will bring some much-needed freshness to the traversal in the AC games. Since Naoe is also believed to be a more stealthy character, the Grappling Hook could also add to that aspect of the game.
We've already seen a Grappling Hook being used in a game set in Japan with Sekiro Shadows Die Twice. If Ubisoft's implementation of the tool is as good as FromSoftware's, players will be in for a lot of fun.
Shuriken
In the trailer we see Naoe leap up to a platform using a grappling hook and then throw out Shurikens at the enemies in the area. The Shuriken is beginning to look like a solid addition to stealth. It'll be interesting to see what other tools we'll get for the stealth encounters in this game, it might end up varying quite a bit from an Assassin's usual tool kit since Naoe is a Shinobi.
Hidden Blade
We've seen quite a few Hidden Blades over the years but the one that Naoe pulls out in AC Shadows' trailer holds a lot of promise. The blade comes out of her wrist and then she curves it to use it as a normal knife. We've gotten confirmation that the Blade acts like this because it can be used for fighting and will be paired with the shortest of the Japanese blades, a Tanto.
Kanabo
The Kanabo or the spiked club we see Yasuke carrying is another new weapon we'll get to witness. Since Yasuke is the more combat-oriented character in AC Shadows, he will most likely be the only one wielding this weapon. In the trailer we see him use it with both one hand and two hands.
The Kanabo has some insane damage potential. Yasuke can be seen sending someone flying through a wall with just one swing of this weapon.
