Factions can especially be classified as groups of people having the same ideologies. They will work in your City, sit on your Council, and either vote for or against certain Laws. This can get annoying at times, but given their free will, there's nothing you can do aside from negotiating with them during Council sessions in Frostpunk 2.

Keep in mind that Factions in Frostpunk 2 can also organize Rallies or Protests, depending on their relationship with the Steward, which is you. For this reason, keeping them happy, or at the very least content, is something you need to strive for.

There are several ways by which to improve relations. It can be done by Researching certain Ideas and enacting Laws that a particular Faction welcomes. Building Districts—and in general doing things that they like—is a good way to improve your relationship with them. However, keep in mind that it's not possible to please everyone. Do not try to do this as things will end terribly.

Communities in Frostpunk 2 are not as important as Factions. Communities can best be described as everyday civilians who make up the bulk of the population. What sets it apart from Factions is that they follow one Ideology; which in turn is what their Delegate will vote for in the Council.


How many Communities are there in Frostpunk 2?

There are two Communities in the Story mode for Frostpunk 2. They are:

  • New Londoners
  • Frostlanders

New Londoners is a Community that focuses on Progress. This group have people has lived their entire lives within the confines of the City. In contrast, the Frostlanders is a Community that focuses on Adaptation; survival of the fittest as is.

Unlike Factions, Communities are more based on the general approach of your ideologies during a playthrough. Thus, it has to be said again, you cannot please Factions and Communities in Frostpunk 2.
