All known factions in Dragon Age The Veilguard
BioWare has revealed the following seven factions for Dragon Age The Veilguard:
- Lords of Fortune
- The Mourn Watch
- Antivian Crows
- Grey Wardens
- Veil Jumpers
- Shadow Dragons
- The Inquisition
Some of these factions are new to the series, while some, like the Inquisition and Grey Wardens, are returning from prior games. It is likely that while creating Rook, you can select from any of the above factions as your backstory. Now, let's look at what each of them represents in the overall Dragon Age lore.
Grey Wardens
The Grey Wardens have played a major role since the very first game in the series. This order has existed for a while in Thedas and always made it their mission to fight the Darkspawns, with their headquarters located in Weisshaupt Fortress in the Anderfels.
The Grey Wardens faction recruits people without any bias of race, or social status, allowing them to boast their ranks from common criminals to royalty.
Lords of Fortune
The Lords of Fortune are a guild of treasure hunters and explorers based in Rivain. They can also be considered a band of mercenaries as they often take on bounty and monster hunts for the right amount of coins.
They boast some of the best treasure hunters on the continent and often wear the various relics they collect from dungeons as a showcase of their power.

The Mourn Watch
There are many factions in Dragon Age The Veilguard who are curious about Magic coursing through Thedas. One such faction is the Mourn Watch, operating from the Grand Necropolis in Nevarra. They hold a certain political power over the continent.
They are also referred to as Death Mages by some living in Thedas.
The Inquisition
The Inquisition is an ancient faction formed after the First Blight by a group of people who rose to protect the continent from Magic and Heretics. They later reformed when the cataclysmic Breach threatened Thedas.
It is unclear if you will be able to select your background as one of the members of the Inquisition, but some of their prominent members will be featured in Dragon Age The Veilguard (like Lace Harding and the Inquisitor, your player character from the third game).
The Antivan Crows
The Antivan Crows is a deadly band of assassins known all across Thedas for their proficiency with killing. They are organized into several houses, each led by a grand master known as "Talon".
The Antivan Crows have a strict conduct of confirming their kill, no matter the cost.
Shadow Dragons
The Shadow Dragons are a group of rebels operating in Tevinter, helping the needy while fighting a war against the corrupted dictatorial government.
They will be heavily featured in the game as the prologue will take place in Minrathous, Tevinter's capital city, which was revealed during the gameplay trailer of Dragon Age The Veilguard.
The Veil Jumpers
Among the factions in Dragon Age The Veilguard, is one that has dedicated itself to the study of ancient elven ruins found throughout Thedas. They mostly operate around the Arlathan Forest, located on the eastern side of the continent.
This group of explorers is quite welcoming of anyone who is looking to join their ranks.
