The Esports World Cup 2024 will host a StarCraft II competition and notable players from various organizations will clash against each other. Earlier this year, ESL revealed that the tournament in Riyadh would be SC2 Pro Tour Championship, making the Esports World Cup event the final event for the entire year.

Following the announcement of the SC2 tournament in the Esports World Cup 2024, some players were invited to compete. It is mainly based on their recent results in several ESL SC2 Masters tournaments. Most other participants had to qualify for the tournament. The qualification process was based on their respective regional standings.

Last chance qualifier:

Serral had already secured his spot by winning the ESL SC2 Masters 2023 Summer, resulting in two more slots being allocated to the Global Standings. Similarly, Maru and Dark had already qualified as they had finished in the top four at the IEM Katowice 2024. This meant two more slots were awarded to the Global Standings.

Notably, MaxPax from PSISTORM Gaming turned down his invitation, leading to his replacement by HeRoMaRinE.

Esports World Cup 2024 StarCraft II tournament: Schedule

The SC2 tournament at the Esports World Cup 2024 starts on August 14, 2024, and will run until August 18, 2024.

All sixteen players will be divided into two groups of eight players each. The groups will feature a double-elimination bracket format and all matches will be best-of-five. Following that, there will be a Knockout Bracket as well as a Final Four stage to decide the winner.

The winner of the SC2 tournament will be awarded $400,000, while the runner-up will receive $150,000.
