Ranked changes in XDefiant Y1S1.3 patch are meant to enhance the player experience to a certain degree. Players leaving the queue before voting on maps was a big issue that endangered matches and generally wasted time for many. This problem was addressed and some other changes were made in the latest patch. Here is what the official patch notes said:
- Tweaked the Ranked mode pre-game. Ranked matches now won't start with less than 8 players. The Leave button has also been nixed from the map-voting screen to discourage players from dropping out (and Ranked matches will cancel if players manage to skedaddle during map voting).
- CTF mode is now available in Ranked Play.
Bug fixes
Pat Price, the Systems Designer of XDefiant addressed the fans regarding the substantial changes made to the ranked mode in the game. Price admitted that when the game was launched, ranked mode was not up to the expectations of fans or the developers. Bugs had slipped through and some features were delayed far beyond their destined time.
These issues were addressed and according to Pat Price, ranked has been improved to meet player expectations and enrich the overall experience. In his own words:
"Let's start with what we've fixed already, the infamous zero RP bug, which didn't give players their RP after winning a match when they were dead and the game ended. That's been fixed. The Charlie-O1 errors either during map voting or in the middle of the game. We identified and resolved a large majority of these cases and will continue to monitor these occurrences until they're gone."
Pat Price also informed fans of multiple ranked changes in XDefiant Y1S1.3 patch that will act as additions to the existing system.
Quitting ranked before the match
Ubisoft has introduced a new Match Cancellation Event. It's a system that will monitor the game as soon as you enter the queue and will continue monitoring until the match clock starts. If at any point a player leaves or disconnects, the match will be canceled and players will go right back to the ranked menu.
Under the ranked changes in XDefiant Y1S1.3 patch, players will still receive penalties for quitting or disconnecting before the match starts. However, this won't impact those quitting mid-match.
Price also informed fans about the upcoming Capture The Flag Mode. Here are all the remaining upcoming changes listed.
Capture The Flag
A brand new Capture The Flag mode is coming to XDefiant. In ranked, you will play two five-minute halves and switch sides at half-time. The team with the most captures at the end of the match will be declared as winners.
Server changes and more
Server ping: Ranked changes in the XDefiant Y1S1.3 patch also include server ping changes. The maximum allowed ping is now limited to 125.
Input Priority: In the first matchmaking wave, players will be matched exclusively with others with the same input type. When the game expands the search to more players, you will be allowed to match with all input types.
Ranked Point Ranges: The RP ranges will be expanded to 30 levels from 15 for most ranks. This change will be made over a longer period.
