The world of Stardew Valley hides several secret notes that contain useful or new information about Pelican Town. The information in these secret notes can range from simple diary entries about an NPC’s interests and hobbies to treasure maps that lead to rare items or secret quests. There are a total of 27 such notes spread across the map as of version 1.6 update.
Some secret notes can be discovered by just doing your daily tasks across the farm while others will require killing monsters and exploring the dungeons. In this article, we will have a look at all 27 secret notes, what they say, and what rewards each offer.

Finding secret notes requires you to complete the “A Winter Mystery” quest which is triggered by entering the bus stop during the winter season between 6 AM to 4 PM in-game time.
An event will trigger where you have to follow and catch a shadow monster. The monster is hidden next to the slide in the middle of the playground. Interacting with the bush will reveal the monster who will give you the magnifying glass.
How to find secret notes in Stardew Valley?
Once you have access to the magnifying glass, secret notes spawn randomly when you perform certain actions in the game. These actions include digging up weeds, chopping trees, harvesting giant plants, fishing, digging artifact spots, and killing monsters in dungeons.
Here’s a list of activities that have an odd of fetching a secret note:
When you find the secret note, you can open your inventory to check what it says. The newly discovered note will also be added to your collectables tab where you can read it whenever you want.
Types of secret notes in Stardew Valley
Secret notes can be divided into two types: Informative notes and quest notes. The secret notes numbered one to nine provide information about the likes and dislikes of different Pelican Town residents.
Since gifting is an integral part of raising friendships, these notes will come in handy if you’re planning to marry a particular Stardew Valley bachelor.
The notes from numbers 10 to 25 are more interesting as they require you to complete a certain task or challenge quest to claim its reward. These rewards are often in the form of useful items, lore revelations, or new character interactions.
Note that you need to have the secret note in your inventory to trigger the event and reward. Hence, following the steps mentioned in this article without the appropriate note, will not trigger the events and rewards.

Rewards: This note is written by the owner of Stardrop Saloon, Gus. It also lists loved items of some NPCs.
7) Secret Note #7
"It's a page from someone's diary...
...There are only a few 'older' bachelors in town, and none of them are perfect! Harvey is really anxious and weak, but I know he would make a loyal and devoted husband. He likes coffee and pickles.
Elliott is a bit foppish and melodramatic, but he does have a nice chin. He likes crab cakes and pomegranates.
Shane is messy and anti-social. But I think his gruff exterior is a defense mechanism, insulating his softness from the world. He likes Beer, Pizza, and Pepper Poppers."
Rewards: This note also tells you about some older bachelors of Stardew Valley and tells you about their loved items.
8) Secret Note #8
"To Haley and Emily
Hope you two are doing well! We've sent you your favorite gifts: Pink Cake and Sunflowers for Haley, Gemstones and Wool for Emily!

Rewards: Written by the parents of Haley and Emily, it gives you information about gifts loved by Haley and Emily.

Rewards: This note is about loved items for Alex.
10) Secret Note #10

Quest: Reach the level 100 of Skull Cavern.
Reward: Mr. Qi will reward you with Iridium Snake Milk. Using this item will increase your health by 25 points.
11) Secret Note #11

Rewards: This note provides you information that you can interact with trash cans to loot for items. Do note that if you search trash cans near an NPC, they will be disgusted and you will lose some friendship points with them.
13) Secret Note #13
"12 o'clock noon SHARP. Last day of the season. Check the bush above the playground."
Quest: On day 28 of any season, interact with the bush above the playground to find Junimo Plush that you can use for decoration.

"I hid something behind the community center."
Quest: Walk to the back of the community center building. Hit the building with an axe or hoe to obtain the Stone Junimo statue.

"Mermaid Show: 1-5-4-2-3"
Quest: Wait for the Night Market during the Winter season. Once the market is available, go to the Mermaid show. After the show, interact with the shells in the order mentioned in the secret note to obtain a Pearl.

Quest: This note is cryptic but the solution is quite simple. You’ve to stand at the door of Vincent’s house and head to the directions marked in the image. You need to go in the same direction until you hit an obstacle.
When you hit an obstacle after the final arrow, interact with the last tile and receive a golden statue of Lewis.
Reward: Gold statue of Lewis.
20) Secret Note #20

Quest: This note is also similar to the previous one. Stand in the middle of Pelican Town’s square and walk in the direction of arrows till you reach the truck near JojaMart. Interact with it to trigger a quest with the driver. Upon fulfilling his request for a Rabbit Foot, you will be rewarded with a Special Charm.
Reward: Special Charm.
21) Special Note #21

Quest: Head to the bridge that connects Pelican Town to the Beach. Interact with the bush near it at exactly 12:40 AM to trigger an interaction between Lewis and Marnie.

Quest: This secret note is nudging you to start the “The Mysterious Qi” quest line.

23) Secret Note #23
"If yoo can reed dis... come to seecrit wuds. Pleez bring may-pal serrup."
Quest: Get the Maple Syrup and take it to the Secret Woods between 6 AM and 7 PM.
Reward: You will receive Bear's Knowledge. This item allows you to sell Blackberries and Salmonberries for three times their price.
24) Secret Note #24
"It's a page from M. Jasper's book:
...the creatures, known by some as "Forest Spirits" or "Junimos", are said to appear in abandoned buildings after they've "gone to seed".
As a general rule...when humans leave, and nature begins to reclaim her territory, the Junimos will undoubtedly appear.
Folk wisdom holds that the Junimos display some kind of resonant affinity with gemstones that are placed inside their little huts...
Of course, all these claims come from dubious, unverified sources... As far as I know, even the mere existence of these creatures has never been proven!"

Reward: This secret note informs you that putting a foraged mineral, geode, or gem into the Junimo Hut will alter the color of the Junimos living there.
25) Secret Note #25
"I 'borrowed' a necklace from Mom, but lost it somewhere near the bath house... She's going to freak out if she notices it's missing."
Quest: This note is from Abigail who lost her mother’s necklace. Find it near the water just outside the Spa to find the “Ornate Necklace”.
Reward: You can give the necklace to Caroline for 50 friendship points or to Abigail for 100 friendship points.
26) Secret Note #26
"Ancient Farming Secrets, line 37:
There's no better helper than a raisin-fed Junimo..."
Reward: This secret note informs you that Junimos like raisins. Giving a bag of raisins to Junimo will raise the chance to receive double the harvest.
27) Secret Note #27
"My dear grandchild,
By the time you find this note, I expect you'll have been living in the valley for quite some time. I hope things are going well!
I'm honored that you're continuing the family tradition of farming, and through that noble endeavor, bringing greater life and abundance to all of Stardew Valley... a place very dear to my heart.

Reward: This secret note from Grandpa encourages you to explore the Mystery Cave area in Stardew Valley. This area rewards you with unique buffs and rare items such as Anvil and Treasure Totems.
