In Star Wars Outlaws, you play Kay Vess on her open-world adventure through the iconic locations of the Star Wars franchise with multiple planets to explore and stories to witness. The open-world RPG elements grant Kay the ability to wield tools to navigate the various challenges.

Basic Tools in Star Wars Outlaws
Kay gets access to some basic tools in Star Wars Outlaws from the beginning of the game, these include:
- Electrobinoculars
- Grappling Hook
- Bacta Vial
- Grenades
- Glowlamp
These tools make up the core of Kay’s navigation and exploration throughout the game and don’t require any steps to unlock them. However, you can unlock various upgrades for Grenades and Bacta Vials.
Upgrades for Basic Tools
- Outlaw’s Pouch: This upgrade from The Mechanic will increase the carry limit for Bacta Vials and Grenades.
- Scoundrel’s Pouch: This upgrade from The Mechanic will increase the carry limit for Bacta Vials and Grenades.
- Adapt: This ability from The Veteran will increase the health restored by Bacta Vials by one bar.
- Enhanced Bacta Injector: This ability from The Hotfixer will increase the health restored by Bacta Vials by one bar.
- Improved Grenade: This upgrade from The Hotfixer will increase the damage and range of Grenades by 50%.
Additional tools in Star Wars Outlaws
In addition to basic tools in Star Wars Outlaws, you can unlock another group of tools that will provide some extra abilities to Kay. Here is how to unlock each one of them.
Data Spike: It is one of the tools in Star Wars Outlaws that you can unlock by following the main story. Get to the opening mission “Beginnings”, where Bram The Bartender will give the Data Spike to Kay. You can then visit the Worker’s District to get it repaired in exchange for some Credits.
Smoke Bomb: Smoke Bombs will be available from The Mechanic after you complete the “New Tricks” mission and go through the required Expert Quest of The Mechanic.
Slicing Kit: Slicing Kit can be used to slice open various terminals and data ports. You get this ability from The Slicer after completing his quest line. The Slicer’s Expert Quest is available once you complete the “New Tricks” mission.
Holotracker: Holotracker is a special item required to complete Jet Kordo’s quest. It is unlocked automatically once ND-5 becomes a part of your crew. ND-5 will ask you about heading back to Trailblazer. Join him and he will provide you with Holotracker and help you use it.
Electro-Shock Prod: Electro-Shock is an incredibly useful tool in Star Wars Outlaws for taking out Elite enemies with stealth. You can unlock this item using The Scavenger once you reach “The Droidsmith” quest on Akiva.
Fusioncutter: You may have encountered the message “Fusioncutter required” on some gates across your journey. Thankfully, you can unlock the tool by simply following the main storyline. To unlock Fusioncutter, get to the “Legacy” mission in the story, where you will receive it from Gedeek to get deeper into an underground hideout.
