Players can choose from five XDefiant factions. Each one offers a unique set of passive and active abilities. These factions take inspiration from those in other Ubisoft titles, including Far Cry, The Division, Watch Dogs 2, and more. So far, the game is said to offer the following factions: Libertad, Phantoms, Echelon, Cleaners, and DedSec.

XDefiant factions: All classes, abilities, and more

1) Cleaners

Cleaners is an XDefiant faction that is straight out of The Division universe. Abilities in this class focus on pyro attacks, which is perfect for those who seek offensive playstyles.

  • Active Ability 1 (Incinerator Drone): A napalm-delivering drone burns everything in its flight path.
  • Active Ability 2 (Firebomb): Detonate a Molotov cocktail, causing explosive damage and igniting the area.
  • Passive Ability (Incendiary Rounds): Incendiary ammo inflicts extra burn damage but decreases weapon range.
  • Ultra Ability (The Purifier): A flamethrower ensures enemies are thoroughly sterilized.

2) DedSec

The DedSec class has a knack for anything cyber-related. This Watch Dogs 2-inspired XDefiant faction is composed of tech experts who use hacking and tech skills to disrupt control systems.

  • Active Ability 1 (Hijack): Hack enemy-deployed abilities and make them your own.
  • Active Ability 2 (Spiderbot): Deploy a Spiderbot that will target and stun the nearest foe via face hug
  • Passive Ability (Fabricator): After a device is deployed, the Fabricator prints a new one.
  • Ultra Ability (Lockout): Disable the enemies’ HUD, minimap, and abilities in the affected area.

3) Libertad

Fans of Far Cry 6 will find the Libertad faction in XDefiant familiar. This faction consists of freedom fighters who primarily use healing and medics to aid on the battlefield.

  • Active Ability 1 (El Remedio): Launch a revitalizing gas canister that heals friendlies until destroyed or canceled.
  • Active Ability 2 (BioVida Boost): A fortifying wave boosts total health and regen for you and nearby allies.
  • Passive Ability (Espiritu de Libertad): The contagious spirit of freedom slowly heals you and nearby allies.
  • Ultra Ability (Medico Supremo): The Médico backpack provides a large health and healing boost for a limited time.

4) Phantoms

Phantoms are future soldiers who use shields and advanced technology to control objective points or forward a rush. This XDefiant faction is reminiscent of the soldiers from Ghost Recon.

  • Active Ability 1 (Blitz Shield): Equip a tactical shield. Press the Melee button for a shield bash.
  • Active Ability 2 (Mag Barrier): An electromagnetic barrier blocks incoming enemy fire and grenades.
  • Passive Ability (Hardened): Health increased as a result of tailored gene therapies.
  • Ultra Ability (Aegis): A spherical plasma shield combined with an electro-scattergun for close-quarters combat.

5) Echelon

This Splinter Cell-inspired XDefiant faction is composed of super spies from NSA's Echelon. They are experts in sneaky abilities and can track down the location of their opponents. Information and subterfuge are their greatest in-game assets.

  • Active Ability 1 (Digital Ghillie Suit): Renders the agent nearly invisible. Movement and aiming reduce the effect.
  • Active Ability 2 (Intel Suit): Shares the location of nearby enemies with your team.
  • Passive Ability (Low Profile): Agent does not appear on enemy minimaps.
  • Ultra Ability (Sonar Goggles): Reveal enemies and hunt them down with the classic Third Echelon 5.7 pistol.

6) GSK

The GSK is a new faction that is inspired by Ubisoft's popular tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege. There abilities are:

  • Active Ability 1 (Shock Wire): Drops electrified Barbed wires that slow enemies alongside provide trivial damage.
  • Active Ability 2 (ADS): An Active Defense System that seizes all the enemy throwables and devices.
  • Passive Ability (Hard Hat): A Ballistic Helmet reduces the incoming headshot damage, especially from the snipers.
  • Ultra Ability: (Flash Shield): Equips a shield that blinds and smacks enemies while providing cover from upcoming bullets.
