Injustice 3 is a dream that the gaming community is still waiting for to come true. With two significant entries, the franchise was extremely popular at one point of time. The titles also brought DC fans together to celebrate all the heroes and villains in the game. However, since Injustice 2 was released in 2017 to a positive reception from gamers and critics alike, the gaming community has patiently awaited a third installment in the franchise.
The reason we haven't seen an Injustice 3 yet, is that NetherRealm Studios was busy with Mortal Kombat 11 in 2019, and then the reboot of the franchise last year, which might have depleted their resources for Injustice 3.
With James Gunn reinventing the DC universe, maybe it's time for the games to have an overhaul too, especially with the failure of Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League.

A legacy of success
Injustice Gods Among Us was released in 2013 and was appreciated for its engaging storyline and polished gameplay mechanics, which made the player powerful no matter what character they picked to play. This game followed the story of Superman going rogue because of Joker's manipulations, which resulted in the birth of a dark narrative in the DC universe.
Injustice 2 was an improved version of the first installment, bringing new characters to the roster and featuring a new storyline. The second game was received positively by fans as it expanded the DC universe and helped introduce the gamers to characters they had never heard of before. After the success of the sequel, Injustice 3 felt like the right direction for the franchise to take.
The perfect opportunity for Injustice 3
Even though there have been no official announcements or rumors about a third game, we still would like to see one happen shortly. This generation is the perfect opportunity for the franchise to make its return, as we now have consoles that can give life to the developers' imaginations regarding the DC universe.
The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X have the capabilities to show off the power of ray tracing, realistic animations, and particle effects. This won't just enhance the visuals but also the overall experience of the game.
Another reason why this is the perfect time to bring back the franchise is because fighting games like Tekken 8 and Steer Fighter 6 are thriving at the moment. WB Games can capitalize on this opportunity and give these games competition by reviving Injustice with a third game for next-gen consoles.
What we would like to see from Injustice 3
While there is no official confirmation of an Injustice game from WB Games, there are some things that we would like to see from the third installment in the franchise if it happens. These are:
- Expanded roster: The third game needs to have a bigger roster that includes characters that were never part of the first two games.
- A dark story: The first game featured a dark and gritty story about Superman losing control. In the third game, we would like to see something similar, maybe Batman going rogue to kill his friends.
- Next-gen exclusive: The next game should prioritize the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series so that it reaches its full potential.
Such developments can definitely reignite the passion for an Injustice game, especially after the failure of Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League.
