An official update on the next Tomb Raider game "is not too far away"

Since 2018's last game in a rebooted Tomb Raider trilogy, Lara Croft has remained mostly absent. However, the long wait for her grand return might end soon, according to a new update from Amazon Games' chief. Christoph Hartmann has revealed that an announcement providing new details regarding the next Tomb Raider game is "not too far away."

The new Tomb Raider game, which is yet to get a proper name, was originally announced back in 2022. Crystal Dynamics is leading the charge while Amazon Games will be the publisher for the upcoming title.

Amazon Games' Christoph Hartmann recently interacted with media outlet Variety to discuss numerous aspects related to Lara Croft's new journey in the upcoming title as well as future live-action projects.

Here's what he had to say about an announcement covering the details related to the upcoming title:

“It’s not going to be tomorrow, but it’s not too far away. As I said, we’re getting into a much more regular cadence of shipping games. That’s all I’m allowed to tell you right now."

While giving a reason for the delay in sharing all details regarding the title, Mr. Hartmann said:

"It’s all about quality. You don’t want to just be rushed out. That’s doesn’t work. It has to be Triple-A quality, because the bar is so high."

Lara Croft's character will next be seen in Netflix's upcoming animated series, The Legend of Lara Croft. Actress Hayley Atwell will voice the fan-favorite female protagonist in the show.

Interestingly, Netflix's TV series is set in the same continuity as the rebooted trilogy that began in 2013. The show will take place after the events of 2018's Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
