Apex Legends recently uploaded a post on their official X page announcing the return of the Duos game mode in the upcoming week. Duos were removed from the playlist for a long time and replaced with a shuffle between Quads and Solos, which naturally left most players feeling bitter.

Well, it seems that the community’s concerns have reached the developers, who decided to bring the popular duos mode back to the title. However, it remains to be seen if the classic mode will be allotted a spot of its own in the playlist or come back as a replacement for something else. That said, it seems like a step in the right direction as player feedback has had an active impact on EA’s battle royale.

This article will highlight the return of Duos in Apex Legends.

When is Duos coming back to Apex Legends?

While Apex Legends announced that the Duos mode would be available in-game from September 17, 2024, there was no mention of any end date in the post captions. However, the official page replied to a comment on the post citing that Duos is slated to remain playable till the end of Season 22. Considering that this season is scheduled to end around October 22, 2024, the devs might replace Duos with something different at the start of Season 23.

The Duos game mode has been a pillar for the battle royale title and occupied a place alongside Trios in the casual playlist for the longest time. However, the request for new game modes forced Apex Legends to bring new additions like Quads and Solos. Moreover, even after quite a lot of community requests to huddle all these modes together in the casual mode and make them available at all times, the devs opted for a cycle system that swapped out one mode for another.

Hence, from the looks of it, the Duos mode is likely going to replace either the Quads or the Trios Revival tile from the active pool of playable modes. This makes it difficult for squads to consistently play in a certain team size and ends up locking a lot of players into the trusted Trios mode.

There might be a good reason for the publisher not bringing all modes together. Minimizing the time required to find a match for all players in the queue might be one of the highest priorities and the primary reason for maintaining a cycling game mode system.

It is important to note that Duos will likely be reinstated with the same map pool and rotation system that is available in the casual playlist.
