Upcoming Apex Legends matchmaking update is set to improve the Ranked experience
According to the dev blog post, Respawn is preparing to make various changes to the Apex Legends matchmaking system.
To ensure fairness for players in different ranks, the developer is tuning the Rank Tiers. Currently, if you are solo-queuing, you will match with players from either a rank above or below. For example, if you are Platinum 2, you will get placed with players from Diamond 2 to Gold 2. However, if you are in a premade three-stack, the rank threshold will depend on the player with the highest rank in the party.
Respawn also plans to introduce changes that will benefit both solo and premade party players. Since the developer is in the middle of testing the “full-stacks with full-stacks” and “solos with solos” matchmaking system, it will likely get released in the future. However, the company has stated that the aforementioned matchmaking style is not as good as previously thought.

While keeping the solo/full-stack player population in mind, even if Respawn implements such a system, it will have two effects on the game.
Firstly, players will be divided into two divisions. That means they will be playing with either a completely uncoordinated team or a premade lobby with good coordination.
Secondly, the matchmaking time will increase/decrease by a significant amount. This means that depending on the two division’s population, you will either get into matches quickly as a solo player or with a premade team.
