Apex Legends players deem the Peacekeeper the "weakest" shotgun, here's why

Apex Legends has four different shotguns for fans to choose from. These include the Peacekeeper, EVA-8, Mastiff, and finally, Mozambique. All these weapons have unique designs and they excel in different areas. For instance, EVA-8 is good for spamming shots at close range while Mozambique has a much more consistent damage output.

Apex Legends player u/Wide_prospection took to Reddit to discuss how they feel that the Peacekeeper is perhaps the weakest shotgun in the game right now. They shared a post asking:

In the post, the OP argued that the current meta allows the EVA-8, Mastiff, and Mozambique to work much better than the Peacekeeper. They even mentioned that the Mastiff deals essentially the same damage and in a better way than the Peacekeeper. User Affectionate-Tree146 agreed with the take and listed out their own shotgun rankings for Apex Legends as:

"Yes. For me the order is Mozams-Eva-Mastiff-PK It’s funny because before this season the order was always the exact opposite for me! And I’ve been playing Maggie and doing nothing but shotguns this whole season tbh"

Even u/Pigtron-42 agreed with OP's point of view. They noted that the Peacekeeper is the weakest shotgun in the current meta, but claimed that it was still viable and could be used effectively.

On the other hand, u/BusinessEcstatic5326 can't seem to stand the weapon at all. They lose it whenever they get the Peacekeeper in Gun Game matches and have a tough time getting kills with it, as they said:

"I cannot stand it. Especially in Gun Game. I crack them and the time it reloads they kill me lol, it’s my worst kill gun on that mode. I tell the team, sorry the moment I get the gun Cos I rarely can move on to the next gun."

Finally, u/wundeyatayetyme claimed that even though all the shotguns are A tier in Apex Legends Season 22, the Peacekeeper is still easily the weakest among them all. Although it's still a good gun for them, it isn't as strong as the others.

The Peacekeeper in Apex Legends has its flaws, that much is true. However, the weapon can be extremely fun to play with as it offers a high-risk high-reward playstyle. It is still perfectly viable in close to mid-range, so where does it fall short?

Well, the Mozambique is easily the fastest, most accurate, and consistent shotgun in the game. It can do more than just what shotguns can achieve, and one could even argue that it rivals SMGs at certain ranges.

On the other hand, the Mastiff is easier to handle and has better accuracy than the Peacekeeper while dealing just about the same amount of damage. With two pumps, it can take down any enemy given your shots land. It can also be used during its reload which is helpful during fast-paced fights.

Finally, the EVA-8 can be used to overwhelm the opponent with spam shots. However, that does take a toll on the gun's accuracy which means one could suffer a loss if they don't take the enemy out with the first few rounds. Its skill ceiling is higher than the Peacekeeper and while it is still a good weapon, it's not the best.

So, maybe it is the EVA-8 that is the weakest shotgun in the current meta and not the Peacekeeper. Everyone's Apex Legends shotgun tier list would be different. But these two guns are certainly rather close in terms of the results they yield.
