Why will Rampart be meta in Apex Legends Season 22?
Before diving into the possible meta shift, let us take a look at all the changes coming to EA’s battle royale in Season 22 that could boost the pick rates for Rampart:
- Gun Shield Generator Hop-Up for all LMG weapons - this creates a gun shield with 40 HP and recharges to full capacity after 12 seconds of taking damage or being destroyed.
- LMGs will feature Reverse Hipfire similar to the Season 21 care package Devotion.
- Controller Legends will gain an additional shield bar while inside the next zone thanks to the new Class Perk: Zone Overcharge.
- Controller Legends will also be able to remotely pick up undamaged Tactical abilities like Rampart’s walls.
- Rampart’s Ultimate ability, "Sheila" will charge in phases allowing players to use it without having to wait for a complete recharge.
Rampart has a passive ability called “Modded Loader” which increases the magazine size and reload speed for all LMG weapons and her Minigun "Sheila." This combined with the newest Class buff and LMG changes will likely catapult this Controller Legend to the meta picks.

The new Gun Shield Generator Hop-Up acts like a mini-Gibraltar arm shield for anyone with an LMG - provided the item is equipped with the weapon. This will allow players to stand a better chance during gunfights in areas with few usable covers. However, the spawn rate of such items is likely to be regulated to maintain its rarity in each match.

Rampart can also participate in fights better with the new Remote Pick-Up mechanic, making it easier to rotate to the circle. These changes will also help squads fortify their positions better inside the final zones.
These are massive changes that can be utilized and combined to increase one’s winning chances in a game - be it casual or a ranked lobby. This makes Rampart a viable option for balanced team compositions and could likely be a strong meta in Apex’s upcoming Season 22 update.
