Details of Apex Legends Season 22 are now out and the FPS title's upcoming season will be called Shockwave. With it, the developers are ready to bring many new updates to the game. To jumpstart the Shockwave season, Respawn Entertainment is bringing a new game mode, map, weapon, and much more.
This article will cover everything new coming to Apex Legends with the Shockwave season.
Apex Legends Season 22 to feature new game mode: Revival
Revival is a twist on the popular respawning-type game mode. In it, as long as one squadmate still stands, players will automatically respawn based on a timer until the fourth ring. However, there is a twist to this as well.

With each death, the respawn timer will increase. Furthermore, if both teammates are eliminated, the timer with the earliest countdown will be considered. Damaging enemies and eliminating them will help shorten the respawn timer. For those interested, the Revival game mode will be available with Trios on August 6, 2024.
New map E-District and new weapon Akimbo coming with Apex Legends Season 22
Talking about E-District, the developers call it a map "built for verticality and instant, continuous action." However, it will be interesting to see how players adapt to it. The full reveal of this map is yet to arrive.

Meanwhile, the new weapon, Akimbo, will also arrive with Apex Legends Season 22. Players need to dual-wield two P2020s or two Mozambiques to get Akimbo. As such, wielding one gun each won't give access to Akimbo. The new weapon has an automatic firing mode with an increased rate of fire from the P2020s and Mozambiques.
If you have attachments on the first weapon, they will also be applied to the second one without the need to find more. The magazine size is double that of a single P2020 or Mozambique, but has a longer reload time. However, optics are disabled for the Akimbo. The players will have to toggle to the single weapon mode to use optics.
Bot Royale mode and new Welcome Pass to arrive in Apex Legends Season 22
To help players hone their skills even further while not losing points, the developers have brought forth the Bot Royale mode. Players can play by themselves or in squads to battle with a small lobby of bots. This game mode will be helpful for newcomers who wish to try out new Legends and master them.
Another gift for new Apex Legends players is a revamped Welcome Pass. Those who join the game with Season 22 will receive a new set of challenges for the Welcome Pass. They will earn Legend Tokens and cosmetics while taking on the tasks. Furthermore, all challenges in this track can be completed in Bot Royale or Battle Royale modes.
Apex Legends Season 22 to come with updated Battle Sense
Respawn Entertainment is bringing two new features to Battle Sense to level out the playing field. The two new features are:
- Temporary health bars
- Highlights that appear while dealing damage to an enemy
These health bars will disappear if players lose line of sight of the enemy. Furthermore, enemies will have a red highlight to make them easily visible.
