Kalypso Media has officially announced that the construction and management simulation video game Tropico 5 is all set to release on PlayStation 4 on 24th April in Europe and 28th April in North America. The 1080p, 30 FPS port will be available both in stores and via the PlayStation Store, which will be available for $59.99 in the US and £49.99/€59.99 in Europe.
Tropico 5 would be the first ever game in the Tropico franchise to feature on a PlayStation console. It was released for Windows on May,2014 and was subsequently available on Macintosh, Linux and Xbox 360. As with the other platforms, Tropico 5 will also feature on PS4 in a special “limited edition” format, which includes the 'Bayo Del Olfato' and 'Big Cheese' DLC expansions, as well as a Tropico passport and postcard as physical extras.
Tropico 5 will finally occupy a rather empty genre in the PS4 roster. If you think of city builder games, there isn’t a single name that comes to the mind with respect to the PlayStation 4. However, players will take heart that Tropico 5 is not a compromise they’re settling for. The franchise has got a pretty strong background and it’s quite surprising that this would be the first of the series to feature on a PS console. The good news probably is that PlayStation owners would not have to wait much longer to get a hands on experience for this slapstick regime-ruling sim. Here’s what the gameplay trailer looks like:
