Ubisoft has released two new Assassins Creed titles lately, namely Assassin’s Creed Rogue for the PS3 and Xbox 360 and the much awaited Assassins Creed: Unity which is the first in the franchise to be available for new generation consoles Xbox One and PS4. So fans of the series had hoped that Rogue would eventually make its way to the new gen consoles as well but that sadly doesn’t seem to be the case. Even amongst the fan speculation, the recent comment from Ubisoft states that the only plan for Assassins Creed: Rogue as of now is to release it on the PC next year and nothing more.
“We have only planned to bring it to the PC platform and our team will be working on making a good port to make sure gamers deserve a good title; but that’s the only plan for now.”
Producer Karl Von der Luhe has further confirmed that Ubisoft has no recent plans to bring the game to next gen consoles in his latest statement.

“We don’t have any other plans to bring it to the next gen consoles and no idea on whether it will emerge in the near future”.
The reason for this is because Rogue has been especially optimized for the PS3 and Xbox 360 by the developers so it performs perfectly on the older generation consoles. The story also has no sequence with any other story in the franchise. So it really makes no sense to release the game for the new gen consoles.
Assassins Creed: Rogue is a unique game because of the amount of effort that has been put into the games development so as to create a unique gameplay experience for players. Rogue’s engine is almost an extension of what was used in Assassin’s Creed III.
“We have managed to get at least twenty percent more power out of the previous gen consoles that allows Assassin’s Creed Rogue to run smoothly on the platform. It made it easier for us to load larger maps into the game, allow players to explore more and increase the draw distances so that it gives a grand feel to it. The open world experience will be the best on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 with this title”
So even though the game will not be releasing anytime soon for the PS4 and Xbox One, it is still worth trying if you own a PS3 or Xbox 360.
