Astro Bot Apes on the Loose level walkthrough: All Bots and Puzzle Piece locations

Apes on the Loose in Astro Bot is the final level in Gorilla Nebula and is unlocked once you defeat the Mighty Chewy boss. The level introduces you to the Hero gameplay, where Astro can take on the abilities of various PlayStation characters. You are given the powers of Spike, the main character from PlayStation 1’s Ape Escape, and you must find the 10 Bots and three Puzzle Pieces hidden in the level to clear it successfully.

While some collectibles are in plain sight, others can be difficult to find. This guide will help you find all the hidden items in Apes on the Loose level in Astro Bot.

Bot 1

You can spot the first Bot near the "Spike's Net" power-up, but you won’t be able to get it right away. Instead, you need to chase it and climb the yellow ladder. Then, you can use the net on the bush to catch the Bot.

Continue ahead on the main path after rescuing the first bot to find the next one sitting on top of a banana crate.

Bot 3

You can easily spot your third Bot by progressing in the same area - next to the fountain.

Puzzle Piece 1

The first Puzzle Piece in the Apes on the Loose level is located just above the fountain. Simply use the water to propel yourself up to pick up the piece.

Bot 4

Make your way to the center of the area to find a Bot taken hostage by a flying enemy. Near it, you’ll find another green-colored enemy standing on top of a checkered platform.

Defeat it and you will be able to pull explosives out of the ground. Use the explosive on the flying enemy to defeat it and rescue this Bot.

Bot 5

Continue the level to find a stone park-like structure with some bushes on it. Search these bushes to find the fifth Bot.

Puzzle Piece 2

After finding the fifth Bot, look for a green-colored enemy guarding a ladder to the next platform. Climb it and make your way across the glass platform to pick up your second Puzzle Piece in the Apes on the Loose level in Astro Bot.

Once you complete the glass platforming section, you'll be able to easily spot this bot at the end of the platform. Chase after it and use your net to get your sixth Bot in the Apes on the Loose level.

Puzzle Piece 3

After you catch the sixth Bot and move forward in the level, you will reach a triangular metal structure with the final Puzzle Piece located under it.

Bot 7

The seventh Bot can be rescued by climbing up this structure using the trampoline nearby.

Bot 8

Near the triangular structure, you can also spot a slope with downward arrows marked on it. Climb up the structure using the nearby platforms and as soon as you reach the top, the Bot will slide down the slope for you to catch it.

Continue on the level and you will come across a circular area of cement with banana crates spread around. The ninth Bot is hiding inside the crate.

Bot 10

Once you reach the end of the level, the central statue will come down. You can then hop on the rail to climb up, where you will be faced with a boss fight. Defeat the boss and catch it to get your last Bot in the Apes on the Loose level in Astro Bot.
