Apex Legends Season 22 is ending soon with the conclusion of Split 2. The player base seems concerned about the decreasing player count for the game. While there are a few underlying issues with the game, it ultimately affects the active community that plays the game regularly. Redditor TinyDoughnut2526 created a post about this and said:
“Apex is nearly below 50k active players”
ttfnwe commented on the post and cited that the game in itself has a lot of great qualities. However, the matchmaking system is a problem as it pits lower-skilled players against seasoned veterans in the same lobby. This can ruin the overall gameplay experience for newcomers and casual players.

mitch8017 expanded on the same outlook and said that Apex Legends brought a unique twist to battle royale titles. It has the potential to be a highly successful game due to its core mechanics and functioning. But some updates might be unnecessary as they keep piling on top of the game's fundamentals. This oversaturation of content might be an issue on top of the existing matchmaking problems.
TryNotToShootYoself pointed out that Deadlock, even though not a traditional shooter game, has a lot of fun elements that revolve around movement. The comment highlighted that wall jumps are a core part of the gameplay and have been ingrained so players can utilize them properly and consistently. TheEvilGiardia chimed in support alongside Reier49 who said they switched to Valve’s shooter as its fast-paced environment keeps players immersed.

CF_Chupacabra cited that almost all online multiplayer FPS titles have a cheater problem. But that cannot be an excuse for the developers to not attempt new methods to detect, ban, and deter cheaters. Instead, Apex Legends seems to pile up on cosmetics and repetitions of the same skins in different colors.
The overall thread under the post outlined the fun aspects of Apex Legends as a game that revolutionized movement and shooting. But when bundled with issues that remain to be fixed for a long time, it starts losing out on a chunk of the player base.
Are cheaters banned in Apex Legends?
