EA FC 25 tactics guide: Best custom tactics to use with 4231 formation
In terms of layout, the 4231 formation features a single Striker up front, leading the charge. The midfield consists of five players, having three Center Attacking Midfielders (CAM) and two Center Defensive Midfielders (CDM) behind them. In this way, the middle zone contributes both towards offense as well as defense in a balanced manner. Finally, the back-four has a Left Back (LB), Right Back (RB), and two Center Backs (CB).
In such a setup, using the Short Passing Build-Up Style and Balanced Defensive Approach having a Line Height of around 45 should prove beneficial. The assigned FC IQ Player Roles (explained in the next section) in combination with these settings will make your EA FC 25 teams threatening from wide spaces and have a patient build-up
EA FC 25 best 4231 tactics: Player Roles
Assigning Player Roles makes individuals in your squad behave in a way you want them to on the pitch. Some players will have + or ++ Player Roles, meaning they are a great fit for that particular role.
In this setup, assign your Striker Target Forward with Attack Focus. Set Focus to Balanced for all three CAMs, assign one (either the left or right CAM) the Playmaker role, and the other two Half Winger. Both CDMs should have Defend Focus with one playing Holding, and the other in the Center Half Player Role.
The entire back-four should have Balanced Focus. Both your EA FC 25 LB and RB should play in the Wingback role, and the two CBs in the Stopper role. As far as the Goalkeeper is concerned, assign the Goalkeeper Player Role and set Focus to Defend.
