Rover (5-star)

Many were surprised that Rover, the protagonist of Wuthering Waves, served as a great unit, particularly for those trying to build an F2P team. Rover functions as a versatile sub-DPS and the best aspect of this free-to-play unit is that they might be able to adapt to more elements in the future. As of now, Rover is available to play as a Spectro sub-DPS, or as a Havoc-DPS.

Depending on the element wielded by your Rover, there are a lot of options to choose from when building your main character. Just equip your best DPS sword or use the free 5-star Weapon selector box that Wuthering Waves released during its launch to claim the 5-star sword from the standard banner for free. Called the Emerald of Genesis, the sword is currently one of the best-in-slot weapons for Rover.

For Echoes, you can either equip your Rover with the Celestial Lighting Echo set, or the Sun-sinking Echo set, depending on whether you are using them as a Spectro or Havoc resonator.

Baizhi is a resonator who is renowned for her versatility. She is an excellent healer who can keep the team relatively healthy and provide various buffs. Baizhi is a perfect choice for a free-to-play friendly team as she is a free resonator given to the players as part of the first build team during the tutorial phase.

To use her full potential, equip her with a weapon that has a nice balance between Attack and Energy Regen. She needs a decent amount of attack as her healing scales off of it, and you will need energy regen to cast her Resonance Liberation more frequently.

As for Echoes, Rejuvenating Glow will be the best-in-slot echo set for Baizhi. This set will improve her healing bonus and increase the attack of the entire team by 15% for 30 seconds whenever an ally gets healed.

Yangyang is invaluable if you are trying to build a free-to-play friendly team. She was also one of the free characters given to players during the tutorial phase. Yangyang is a sub-DPS / Support character that can group up enemies easily and transfer her energy to the next character you switch to after using her outro skill.

Just like the Rover, Yangyang is also a sword-wielding character. For a support build, she can utilize weapons that aid in building Concerto Energy faster so you can use her outro more frequently and smoothen your team rotations. Scale Slasher is a good option to use for this build. If you are going for a more sub-DPS build, Emerald of Genesis can be equipped on her as well.

Depending on your type of build for Yangyang, you can either equip her with the Moonlit Clouds Echo set or use her in the Sierra Gale Echo set. If you are using her as a support, Moonlit Clouds will complement her outro skill energy-transfer mechanic — as when using an Outro Skill, the attack of the next Resonator will be increased by 22% for 15 seconds. Sierra Gale will be an appropriate sub-DPS echo set for her as it will boost her Aero damage.
