5 best free games for Nintendo Switch
1) Apex Legends
Apex Legends is a spin-off of the very popular Titanfall franchise. It also happens to be the biggest competition for Fortnite, with some players even claiming that it is far better than the latter. Even though Apex on the Switch does not perform as well as its PC and console counterparts, it should not deter you from hopping into King’s Canyon with your favorite squad.
Unfortunately, the resolution on the Switch version of Apex Legends gets capped at 720p when docked and it is even lower when it is handheld. While the resolution can be pushed higher, that comes at the cost of killing the graphical details, which is not a very ideal scenario.
The Nintendo Switch also fails to dish out the promised 30 frames per second as it is quite noticeable that the fps drops below that quite often. But all things considered, while Apex on the Switch does feel a bit unpolished, playing it with your friends can be a lot of fun.
2) Pokemon Unite
This is one of the most popular games that comes under the MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) genre of video games. Although players get very competitive, somehow the games are still very fun and it is one of the best free games for Nintendo Switch.
MOBA games are not always very friendly towards newcomers as they require a lot of practice and have a steep learning curve. But Pokemon Unite does not treat its new players the same way.
Pokemon Unite blends the game mechanics from the likes of DOTA 2 and League of Legends with the ever-so-familiar Pokemon that everyone loves into a compact, easy-to-learn mobile game. This allows newer players to quickly hop on the wagon along with more seasoned veterans.
3) Fortnite
The Nintendo Switch is a fairly decent platform to play games on. Although not as powerful as a PC or a console, you can enjoy all your favorite games on it. Fortnite is no exception and is one of the best free games for Nintendo Switch. it is no surprise that you will not have the same experience as you would on a proper gaming setup, but the Nintendo Switch does a commendable job nevertheless.
To ensure that the game performs well, they had to sacrifice the visual aspect. But it is not much of a downgrade as the game still looks amazing, just not as good as on a proper gaming rig. You will also feel the game stutter a bit during heated fights as a result of FPS drops. However, it will not buffer or lag enough to get you killed.
Fortnite is one of the best free games for Nintendo Switch and is a very enjoyable game that you should consider getting your hands on.

4) Tetris 99
There are a lot of Tetris games for the Nintendo Switch, each of them being fun to play in their unique ways. Despite having severely flawed online modes, the titles are still very enjoyable, with Tetris 99 being one of the best free games for Nintendo Switch.
Since the 1990s, Tetris fans have stayed loyal regardless of how the game has been through the decades, most of which was good if not great. It stayed the same when Tetris started to release games for the Nintendo Switch.
Tetris 99 is multiplayer only and you can have a great deal of fun with this game, despite its discrepancies. You battle it out with 98 other players to see who is the last one standing. As simple as it sounds, it is far from that.
However, the game lacks a single-player mode or any sort of tutorial for the new features that are a part of this game or even for newcomers to practice their skills.
5) Super Kirby Clash
Released in 2019, Super Kirby Clash is one of the best free games for Nintendo Switch and is pretty similar to its 3DS version. It is like most other Kirby games but only with boss fights and four roles to choose from. Each role has its unique abilities which increases the replayability of the game.
The boss fights are always multiplayer and you can choose if you want to play with your friends or random players online. Keep in mind that the bosses in the boss fights of Super Kirby Clash are from previous Kirby games. So, if you have been playing those, this title might seem a little stale.
Even though some of the assets are reused from previous games, the overall graphics are very colorful. You will find the visuals to be very vibrant and appealing, making the game very enjoyable to play on the Nintendo Switch.
