Apex Legends Season 22 brought a lot of changes to the gunplay and introduced a new meta-weapon set for the entire community. The developers introduced a new Hop Up, called Gun Shield Generator, for all Light Machine Guns (LMGs) to increase the weapon category pick rate and its ability to defend squad positions on different maps. Moreover, the new Mozambique and P2020 Akimbos have brought a fresh change to loadouts.

What is the most meta weapon in Apex Legends (Season 22)?
All the LMGs have entered the meta as the entire weapon category received the new Hop Up. These guns also received the reverse recoil mechanic which tightened hipfire spread allowing players to shoot the gun continuously, similar to the care package Devotion.

The Spitfire has always been lethal as it can be used to cover teammates and spam bullets to pin down enemy squads. Likewise, the L-Star is another effective weapon that can perform very well in close-range gunfights. The Rampage also received a significant buff with increased projectile size when charged with a Thermite grenade.
Among these, the Spitfire stands on top due to its easy-to-learn recoil and large magazine size. It can inflict a maximum of 25 damage on headshots, 18 to the torso, and 15 on leg shots, although these numbers can decrease based on how far the player is from the target. Moreover, this LMG can hold 40 bullets in a single magazine without any extended attachments.

This makes the Spitfire LMG the best meta weapon in Apex Legends Season 22. Although it does fall short in terms of Damage Per Second (DPS) compared to other guns in the arsenal, it can be an excellent choice that can potentially wipe out a full squad with a single magazine.
Best alternatives to the meta weapon in Apex Legends
The Flatline and Havoc occupy the best alternative position to the meta weapon. Both these rifles have great damage output and can be used to knock enemy players within seconds. However, their recoil is way more difficult to manage and needs diligent grind and practice to master.

It is recommended that players jump into the Firing Range before queuing up for ranked to warm up and practice their preferred weapons. The new meta loadout can even consist of one LMG and the Akimbo Mozambique - the LMG to spray and the Akimbo to maximize agility during gunfights.
The Mastiff Shotgun is another great choice as it has a better damage profile in the new seasonal update.
