There are so many amazing weapons in Lords of the Fallen, but we’re going to look at drops you can pick up fairly early in the game. Some of these might be harder to unlock than others, but they’ll be worth it. We’ll highlight what makes each of these weapons desirable, but it’s worth noting that you should play the game however you see fit.
We’ll go over a variety of weapon types and what makes them desirable for your playthrough of Lords of the Fallen. The game is still quite new, though, so we may find other weapons to add to this as time goes on.

Best early-game weapons in Lords of the Fallen
1) Pale Butcher’s Blade
- Weapon Type: Grand Sword (25 STR, 20 Agility Requirement)
I’m a big fan of Grand Swords/Great Swords in Soulslikes. They’re slow, sure, but they hit incredibly hard, and that’s what I’m looking for. You can pick up the Pale Blade’s Butcher early in the game, too. While on the way to the Hushed Saint in Forsaken Fen, it’s hidden in a hut deep into the area.
If you want to hammer your enemies with tons of damage and look cool while doing so, the Pale Butcher’s Blade is going to be a must-have for heavy weapon builds in Lords of the Fallen.
There are plenty of Grand Swords, but go out of your way for this one - especially because it’s one of the rare ones with Wither damage attached to it.
2) Fist of Insight
- Weapon Type: Fist (10 Agility Requirement)
The Fist of Insight is an amazing early-game agility weapon. As it’s a fist weapon, you really have to be up close and personal with your Lords of the Fallen enemies. Thankfully, it’s not a weapon that you’ll have a hard time tracking down, either. It’s bought from Damarose the Marked. You can pick this up right before the fight with Gavernus, so keep that in mind if you’re going for an agility build.
The Burn effect is amazing on it, considering how fast you strike with these fists of fury. Lords of the Fallen gives players some very interesting combat options, and this is among the best. And it’s not even a secret hidden deep in the world.
3) Thorned Crimson Rector Sword
- Weapon Type: Long Sword (19 Strength Requirement)
The Thorned Crimson Rector Sword is hidden in the Umbra at the top of Pilgrim’s Perch. It’s worth going out of your way for this long sword in Lords of the Fallen. Once you see the spike-headed foe, jump into the Umbra. You’ll find a Bone Bridge to cross and, eventually, a slope to climb.
You’ll push a ladder to reveal a shortcut and the blade when you come to the large hand. It has solid overall physical stats, and perhaps best of all, for my style of gameplay, it deals Bleed damage. Having debuffs on my enemies is always going to feel great, and this sword is worth exploring for. It’s also great for quite a few of the starting classes.
4) Orian Preacher Hammer
- Weapon Type: Hammer (10 Strength and 13 Radiance Requirement)
It might seem strange to see a “starting weapon” on this list, but it’s one of the few weapons in the early portions of the game that have Radiance scaling. That means for much of the early game, if you’re playing as an Orian Preacher, you already have your best weapon for the first several hours of the game.
However, if you want to build Radiance on another class, you can seek it out from Exacter Dunmire and purchase it for other builds. If you want to start with it, though, play an Orian Preacher.
5) Hushed Saint’s Halberd
Weapon Type: Polearm (19 Strength and 16 Agility Requirement)
While you need to beat one of the game's bosses, the Hushed Saint, to get this, it’s worth having. Once you’ve bested the Saint, you can purchase the polearm from Molhu at Skyrest Bridge. This weapon combines two of my favorite things into one convenient location: Poison damage and reach!
It has a gorgeous design, has solid stats all around, and, again, it deals poison damage. That’s why if you’re going with any kind of polearm build, this is one of the weapons you absolutely must seek in the early parts of Lords of the Fallen.
There are far too many amazing weapons at all points of this game to list. We wanted to highlight just a few of them for a variety of builds. One thing that makes Souls-like games like this and Lies of P great is the wide assortment of builds and the weapons they use.
