Best teams for Guinaifen in Honkai Star Rail 1.4

With the first part of Honkai Star Rail Patch 1.4 ending, it's time to prepare for the second phase's content, packed with fresh and time-limited gameplay content. The update also introduces a brand new character event warp. As part of the warp event, two new characters will be added to the game: Topaz, a 5-star Hunt character, and Guinaifen, a 4-star Nihility unit.

Guinaifen will be a fire-type unit whose kit will revolve around detonating the burn damage over time (DoT). In short, she will be like a budget version of Kafka (lightning Nihility 5-star character) but will only detonate the burn damage. As a 4-star, she will be added to the Stellar Warp after version 1.4 ends.

Three recommended teams for Guinaifen in Honkai Star Rail

1) Kafka-DoT

• Guinaifen
• Sampo/Luka/Serval
• Any Abundance or Preservation unit you have built

This is the most straightforward team setup for Guinaifen and her kit. It involves stacking DoT or damage over time debuffs on foes before detonating them with Kafka. This team consists of various Nihility characters such as Sampo, Serval, or Luka, the elegant Stellaron Hunter, Kafka, and one of the Abundance or Preservation units you have.

Depending on the enemy's weakness, you can replace Sampo, Luka, or Serval. This squad composition is a little pricey because Kafka is a limited 5-star unit; thus, you may need to spend some Stellar Jades the next time she receives a rerun banner. Nonetheless, she is currently the most powerful lightning DPS in Honkai Star Rail, and the DoT team is a lot of fun.

2) Overburn Premium

• Guinaifen
• Himeko
• Topaz
• Any Preservation or Abundance unit you have

The Overburn team will work on the basis that you must stack the burn status effect with multiple fire-damaging characters. Topaz and Himeko are fire-type DPS units that follow the paths of Hunt and Erudition, respectively.

Because of their follow-up attack mechanic, Topaz and Himeko can deliver a lot of fire damage while piling plenty of Burn status effects on the enemy. Guinaifen can then trigger the status effect to do massive damage to the enemy.

If you plan to pull for Topaz and Guinaifen but lack Himeko, you can use Asta instead in this setup. Despite being one of Honkai Star Rail's many support units, she has good damage and break capabilities.

3) Overburn Free-to-play (F2P)

This team is the budget equivalent of the Overburn Premium team in Honkai Star Rail, yet it performs effectively against beings vulnerable to the fire element. Despite being a support unit, Asta has one of the best skills in the game, as she can target multiple opponents at once. She'll work as a kind of Himeko replacement, with the added benefit of her ultimate, which advances your character's action.

Hook will be your primary damage dealer, and Natasha, the free healer, will keep your team alive. Preservation MC is also effective because fire is their element. All this leads to accumulating the burn status effect on mobs and then detonating them with Guinaifen.
