Best traits in Fallout London
Fallout London has numerous traits to choose from (Image via Team FOLON)

During the character creation process in Fallout London, you can pick up two traits for your new character. Unlike perks, these do not have any special stat requirements and provide some form of buff with a tradeoff. Given the genre of the game, these traits can add a lot of flavor to make your character unique from a roleplay perspective, but some of the buffs are almost too good to pass up.

While your choice of traits in Fallout London should ultimately come down to this roleplay focus, there's room for min-maxing here. In this guide, we will go over what each of the traits does, and highlight which ones are best for power gaming.

Traits should be picked carefully. There's no trait-refunding system in this game. Once you click it, you're locked in. To help you make an informed decision, here's a breakdown of traits in Fallout London:

  • Acrobat: +10% Movement speed, but -50 to carrying capacity.
  • Chem Head: All Chems last four times as long, but all SPECIAL stats take a -1 penalty when not under the effect of any Chems.
  • Claustrophobic: +1 to SPECIAL stats when outside, -1 when inside
  • Four Eyes: +1 Perception when wearing any type of glasses (shades or welding goggles also count), but -1 without them.
  • Gifted: +1 to SPECIAL points permanently, but -15% to all XP received.
  • Heavy Handed: 20% extra damage on basic melee attacks, but power attacks do not stagger or deal extra damage.
  • Hoarder: +75 to carrying capacity, but you cannot move when over-encumbered.
  • Kamikaze: +50% AP regeneration, but you take 20% extra damage from all weapons.
  • Night Owl: +1 to Perception and Intelligence during the night, -1 to Perception and Intelligence during the day.
  • Numbskull: +1 to Strength, Endurance, and Luck. Your total Intelligence cannot exceed 3.
  • Puritan: +1 to Strength and Endurance at all times if you're not under the effect of Alcohol or Chems, -1 to Strength and Endurance if you are. Stimpacks, Rad-X, and Radaway do not count as Chems for this perk.
  • Sleepwalker: Teleports you to a random place when you rest. Where you end up is a gamble, but in most cases, it lands you in trouble. This should be taken only for specific challenge runs, and never on your first playthrough.

What are the best Fallout London traits to take?

The Gifted trait is easily the best one in Fallout London, and it's good for all characters. This is a returning trait from the classic Fallout games, where it was the meta trait to pick, too. The -15% experience penalty doesn't translate to much, especially if you take the Idiot Savant perk later on.

The other traits all have big enough downsides that they're evenly balanced, and the 'best' ones depend on your build motivations. For example, on a low-Intelligence character, Numbskull is a steal deal—at the cost of locking you out of certain perks.
