Fallout London starts you off as a lab rat in a glass tube, and you punch your way out of it. There's a lot of throwing fists involved on your way out, as you get no melee weapon lying around in the first room. Fallout London is not as benevolent as Fallout 4. It doesn't just hand you free starter gear, and a lot of the lessons you may have learned from Fallout 4 do not apply here.
The world of Fallout London is not player-centric, and you will face trouble in the concrete wilderness if you make the wrong decisions. For players who could use some guidance, here's how you can get the best possible start to this post-apocalyptic adventure.

Fallout London's SPECIALs are the same as Fallout 4 starting stats. If you'd like a preset, here are our recommended SPECIALs:
In practice, you will deviate quite a lot from this build depending on what you want. The main thing to remember is to take at least four points in Endurance. London is a claustrophobic place; you will often get jumped by hooligans and mutated wildlife. The player character's base health in Fallout London is not very high. The four points in the Endurance column are necessary to tank one or two hits from a rabid fox without dying.
Otherwise, the build depends on whether you want a combat-focused build, or wish to spread out your stats more evenly. You use a lot of melee in the first two hours of the game, as ammo is scarce. However, things start to pick up for ranged builds afterward—so don't feel pressured into shelling out more points towards Strength.
The rest depends on what you want out of the build. If you want Idiot Savant, get more starting Luck, and so on. You can increase any SPECIAL stat later through level-ups, so, nothing is set in stone.
Fallout London also has traits to define your character further, among which Gifted gives you the most bang for your buck.

All weapons you can get in Fallout London in the tutorial (The Shard and London Bridge Station)
The first proper melee weapon you get is the free Balisong from Sebastian Gaunt, soon after you finish the tutorial. However, you can get a few starter weapons before you board the train from London, including a 9mm Pistol. Here's how to find them.
After you exit The Shard and reach the London Bridge Subway, you'll run into two Radshrew packs. Deal with them and proceed till your way to the exit is blocked by the ticket counter.
Near the ticket booth, there are two metal benches. On one of them, a corpse will be resting with a Protect and Survive magazine in hand. Next to him is a Walking Cane, a melee weapon.
One of the stalls opposite this bench says "Booths." Enter this room and go behind the desk to find a Safe with a Novice level lock. Lockpick this to find a 9mm Pistol and a few rounds of ammo inside.
There's also other stuff you can find in the Lab, The Shard, and the London Bridge station, including but not limited to:
- Photon Brews and Nuka Cherries
- A few Cherry Bakewells
- A Service Rifle with a few cartridges and a Combat Helmet, locked inside the Preservation Center you can find to the right of the ticket booth when facing the exit.
- Cigarette Card Wild Animal No. 12, in the Bridge Station Underground subsection.
- A Makeshift Knife, locked behind a jammed door atop the Shard. Reached through an Elevator at the end, and needs 7 Strength to open.
