The campaign of Stalker 2 is set in an area inspired by the real-life Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, where a deadly nuclear disaster in 1986 rendered the location uninhabitable by humans for the next thousands of years. In the game, the area is also overrun by phenomena such as emission, radiation, and many hostile presences such as anomalies, bloodsuckers, poltergeists, and more.

Defeating them is no easy task, and can require having to use weaponry such as guns very often. With the area being a desolate wasteland, there are not many ways to gain this precious resource, though the few methods there are can prove to be crucial in ensuring survival. Battling hostiles and enemies can cause ammunition reserves to run low, and can make it difficult to explore the map. Every time a hostile is downed, make sure to check their inventory for loot and any guns they can drop. They may just have the exact ammo type your gun needs. Alternatively, their gun may have a full magazine of ammo that can be unloaded and stored by you in your inventory.

Also, explore the stashes, safes, and green breakable ammo boxes around the map. You may also encounter some unattended backpacks that can be ransacked for loot, which may contain some precious ammo. Though loot stashes will not contain ammo all the time, they can contain other items and consumables that can also be useful in combat, So, this is, generally speaking, a good practice to do so.

This can be very useful, as you may encounter ammo aplenty in one region but not in other regions.
