Blazing Strike, an upcoming 2D fighting game from RareBreed Makes Games, was inspired by legendary arcade fighting game series from companies like Capcom and SNK. The game has already thrilled fans and critics equally as it stirs up the joy and nostalgia of 2D pixel art genre pioneers whilst integrating an innovative games system with modern mechanics. Even though there have been several delays since the game was first announced in 2016, the anticipation hasn't diminished in the slightest.
Blazing Strike plot
In the dystopian future of Blazing Strike, a resistance movement battles an autocratic government. The remnants of human civilization are in ruins after surviving a catastrophic event. In this dystopian society where a murderous and corrupt government rules, a resistance movement is prepared to defend the interests of the populace.
This grim, dystopian setting is reflected in the roster, which has 14 fighters with distinctive visual and gameplay philosophies. In addition to the 14 playable characters that are immediately available, the developer suggests that there might be three boss characters who might or might not be playable in the finished game.
Blazing Strike gameplay
Blazing Strike, a unique game system with contemporary mechanics, evokes the nostalgia of the 2D pixel art genre pioneered by drawing inspiration from classic arcade fighting game series from industry giants like Capcom and SNK. It has a four-button system with six standard attacks—light, medium, and heavy punches and kicks—and three defensive techniques—blocking, guarding, and parrying.
Fighters can use Rush Triggers to execute quick attacks and movements, but doing so gradually depletes the Rush Metre and temporarily puts the character to sleep. Players can pull off thrilling combos while still controlling the Rush Metre thanks to this.
The game will have three play modes: Story Mode, Arcade Mode, and VS Mode. Persona AI will be used for online training, sparring, and matches, and GGPO will power online play.
