Botany Manor, the debut title from UK-based Balloon Studios, takes place in the 19th century and puts gamers in the shoes of the manor's resident Arabella Greene, a retired botanist. It is a puzzle game based on plants that requires players to investigate the house and gardens, which are full of botanical research, in order to determine the ideal habitat for a collection of forgotten flora. The story is scheduled for release in 2023 and promises to be more open-ended than the linear demo.
Botany Manor’s Plot
In the puzzle exploration game Botany Manor, gamers take on the role of a retired botanist who is cultivating her collection of extinct plants inside her lovely manor house. Players play as Arabella Greene, an English stately home owner and retired botanist from the 19th century. You solve puzzles by finding seeds, planting them, and carrying the pot to the environment that it requires to grow as you explore the grounds and greenhouses that are bathed in sunlight.
The final game will be much more open-ended than the linear demo, according to Balloon Studios' creative director Laure De Mey. If a player is stuck on one plant, they can search the vast manor for hints to other plants and come back once they've found a solution.
De Mey explained how the plants grow into the story: “When people see weeds, they pull them out, because they didn’t put them there. These weeds are forgotten flora, and the main character is also a bit forgotten.”

The gameplay of Botany Manor requires players to collect botanical posters, newspapers, letters, paintings, and postcards that could lead you to the answer for a specific plant. Gamers will also discover more about Arabella Greene's life in the nineteenth century at the same time.
As players explore and solve the plant puzzles, they will also be able to unlock new rooms and areas inside and outside the house, which can teach them more about Arabella and her career as a woman in science at the time. In this game, players will gradually come to understand Arabella's own life as they learn more about their own plants.
In Botany Manor, players must solve puzzles that resemble growing plants. They'll have to collect seeds, pot them, and transport your seedlings to the proper location. Beyond that, the console release date for the game hasn't been announced but reports indicate that the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S will not get the chance to run the game.
