Can you revive an ally in Honkai Star Rail?

Players can revive downed allies in Honkai Star Rail but not in battles

Honkai Star Rail can get somewhat challenging during optional boss fights and gauntlets. This will often lead to teammates getting wiped out, especially if they have not been leveled or geared up well enough. In such scenarios, the chances of victory go down drastically with lesser characters to fight with.

Interestingly, there is a way to revive fallen party members in the game. Unfortunately, this cannot be done during battles. This is not a bug; it is just how HoYoverse has chosen to design Honkai Star Rail.

The only way to revive teammates is by using consumables. This can be done by pressing the Inventory icon, which looks like a backpack. Here, players can go to the consumables tab, select the item to use, and then highlight the targets to be used on.

However, what should players do if they do not have consumables in the first place? In that case, there are two options: either buy items or craft them. The former can be done by purchasing from vendors dotted around each safe zone. The latter can be achieved by visiting the Omni-Synthesizer. This is a machine that is unlocked a short while after getting aboard the Astral Express, the space-faring train.

Approach the device and interact with it to bring up a screen with all craftable items. Note that players will need to turn in certain raw materials to be able to create these consumables. This includes the Life Transmitter, which revives a downed ally with 10% of their max health replenished. Once crafted, these items will be available in the user's backpack and can be accessed outside of battle while in the overworld.
