The upcoming Capcom Next event may leave hardcore Resident Evil fans extremely upset. In case players were hoping for a slight chance of major updates on the future of the survival-horror series, that won't happen, according to Capcom's official confirmation ahead of its event early next month.

We discuss why Resident Evil fans might not get any news regarding the next big rumored Resident Evil 9 installment, or any other title from the series during Capcom Next.

Expect no Resident Evil news at Capcom Next on July 1, 2024

Capcom recently took to X to announce the date for its Capcom Next event. It will offer in-depth details on three major games: Dead Rising's remastered title, Kunitsu Gami: Path of the Goddess, and RE7 Biohazard for Apple's iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices.

What's crucial to note is that Capcom immediately shared a separate post while subverting fans' expectations of fans and clearly stating that the event "will not include news or updates for other titles."

Now it's not hard for anyone to guess the 'other titles' indicated by Capcom. It seems the publisher wanted to clarify by informing the fans beforehand to not get their hopes high in case they were expecting any announcement on Resident Evil games.

Simply put, RE lovers will need to wait for a while to witness the big news on the franchise and the next installment. With a rumored title of RE9, the game is said to feature a co-op system with two characters.

The protagonist is expected to be Leon Kennedy while the iconic Jill Valentine is rumored to portray a supporting role.

Furthermore, many unspecified leaks have suggested that the game might also include open-world elements. However, it's too early to believe any rumor or speculation unless there comes an actual update from Capcom.
